This is a project i've been working on for a while, and I just wanted to show whats coming. I still have to morphs for it to make the windows and doors open and close. If anyone has some detailed info on how to make a pp2 like a cr2 and just hold a geometry path, and morphs information.

Looks cool! Great details. Please consider making each of the four external walls removeable so that those of us with no other 3D programs (for surgery) might still do internal renders.

John Stallings got the up down windows ( and I think door swings also) with his walls (CR2) and Cal has the open door with his dishwasher ( and the shelf slides ) (PP2), so it is do-able either way. I wonder if it is not more of a rotate/trans thing rather than a morph. You may have problems with the prop distorting between 0 and 1.0 and again at greater than 1.0 if it is a morph.

Actually for doing internal renders just move your camera in until you've moved through the wall. That way you get proper indoor lighting by having to place lights in real-world like positions for indoors.

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

It looks great. I noticed (i'm picky about this sort of thing...) The brick textures are all warped. Especially noticeable in the frame with the spiral staircase. What program did you create this in? Great modeling though.

AofD ( ) posted Mon, 05 June 2000 at 2:56 PM

I actually am gonna do it with morphs I think, cause I can pivot the entire door on the hinge. I may still re do the wall to try and fix the crooked bricks. The reason they are doing that I think is because when I UV mapped it I used a cylindrical map. I'll keep everyone updated. AofD

Try planar or box mapping to fix it.

arcady, moving the camera inside the prop severely limits the available angles. That's what I was hoping to avoid with this great looking prop. For instance, you could not show two people on opposite sides of the room. A traditional over-the-shoulder shot would require a camera position outside the wall.

I understand nance. When I redo that wall there will be 4 sections that could be taken away or turned invisible with transmaps. Kinda like I did for the upstairs shot and took away the roof. AofD Graphics Station

Whoo-Hoo! Thanks for remembering us, the Modeling Challenged.

Darth_Logice ( ) posted Mon, 05 June 2000 at 9:03 PM

nance, just use "Hither" on your camera :) Walls disappear :D -Darth

AofD ( ) posted Mon, 05 June 2000 at 11:05 PM

Well there are now 4 seperate walls, that with the grouping tool or transparency. Here is a shot from the side... the crooked bricks thing is fixed too... building.jpg AofD

Looking good AofD! If you were to use transmaps rather than actual holes for the windows, would it reduce the puckered smoothing effect on the walls? Darth - Hither settings work great for previews, but P4 doesn't use them when rendering. (Duh?!) -Hopefully an easy fix for P5.

That just looks tremendous. Great work!

Not really Nance, that is caused by poser smoothing the everything, it might improve some but not enough to rework the mesh again. I am now starting on morphs it should be done soon. Unfortunatly it looks like the file is gonna be massive. AofD Graphics Station
