Playing around with the atmosphere settings, I created something that is almost cell shaded in appearance. Volume step size set to max (10.0), Vol density at 0.075, noise at 0.0

Wow that's really unique stuff! Real nice! You have any more render samples like that?

That is really an interesting effect. Almost an abstract. I like it. Nice to see people experimenting with different techniques...widens the possibilities and brings a fresh outlook to the softwork.

that is very funky ...save a copy of the file :)

Here are some more - This one with a single atmospheric spot

This one mixing two atmospheric spots

Adjusting the mix to the green spot

And back to a single atmospheric spot with a non atmospheric fill spot and the volume step size turned down

So many endless possibilites

All these are straight poser renders - no post work. I've never really looked at 'non real' lighting before - it's a lot of fun just messing around :-)

ooooh coooooool. I love the first one but the others are great too. Just now so spectacular :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Very cool stuff... I like the one on post 9 the best

Lyrra ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 5:46 PM

#9 is very cool .. I can see using that with a figure running to get 'motion blur' like when comic artists draw superspeed

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 5:36 AM

This is great....I like #8 the best

N.1 is the best for me... I'd like to get something like it, but I'm not so good. Can you explain in details how you got the effect in pic n.1? Thanks!

I'm using an infinite light shining through two sets of slits in a wall. As an infinite light normally 'whites out' using volumetric atmosphere I have reduced the 'atmosphere' setting on the light to 0.5. The light uses raytraced shadows Then in the material room, select the 'atmosphere' material and set the volume density to 0.075, the volume step size to 10.0 and the noise at 0.0. Render using the firefly renderer with ray tracing and shadows on. The interference caused by the light shining through the slits is what causes the effect. Here is the same shot from a different angle to show the slits in the wall, with the atmosphere turned off. I will be making this 'prison cell' available in the free area as soon as it is finished (I want to add some poseable chains)
