Hi all and happy mother's day to those of you whom are mothers. This weeks model is a hummingbird feeder, just had to do something for these birds. Hope you like it. Oh yes I thought I would add the photograph I took lastnight. Sharen

Wow...the only birds I ever see around my house are "BlueJays" and I only notice them because they like to "DIVE" bomb my cats and peck them on the head. Love your "hummingbird" feeder.........now.......maybe I can attract some hummingbirds. (: Once, again, Thank you.(: Genny

Judging from the diminished fluid level, your real hummingbirds have had a very "Happy Hour". :) Thanks so much, for this and the other lovely props. Carolly

I was hoping that someone would model a feeder, and had a feeling it would come from you guy. Thanks for the great freebie.

We have one in our back yard just like that. Sharen, how'd you get the hummingbird to land? The only ones I see are always in hover mode.

Wow sharen this feeder is great and just what i needed. Might have to put a little lounge chair on one of the posts for the new crosbreed one though.

Love the model, also the "surprise." Thanks again for the ump-teenth time for sharing your marvelous talents.

Very nice model. There are dozens of hummingbirds around here (Rufous and Anna's) so I put up a couple of feeders that look just like that model. But the hummingbirds won't use them. There must be some secret to getting them to visit the feeders.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 3:44 PM

Mateo_sancarlos... Try putting something IN it? ;o) No seriously, I ENVY you peeps in Hummingbird-land. I've never even seen a live one.. But they look so totally cute on film and pictures. Very nice freebie, Sharen. Looks just like the Real Stuff :o)

LOL...mateo sancarlos Mike puts so much sugar in his water, we have tons of them around our house, we can sit right there at feeding time and just watch them and when the water is out they come to the back of the house to get our attention and tell us, really I am not kidding they are quite persistant. Glad you all like it, isn't it funny how so many of us have the same feeder. I just needed it for my humming birds from RDNA and it made sense to make one. Sharen

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 8:46 PM

There is also hummingbird "food" which can be added to water so that it isn't just sugar. (They need some nutrients, too, especially when they are in breeding mode.)

Patricia ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 9:26 PM

The racoon gang (9 of them) that frequents my back porch also loves hummer food, unfortunately....They've learned to tip the feeder until the sugar water pours (mostly!) into their greedy little mouths. Then they come up to the kitchen windows where the cats lie and attempt interspecies communication with them. I know this from the sticky, smeared mess they leave on the outside of each pane, complete with paw and tongue prints, for me to clean off in the morning ;) If you're having trouble attracting them to a feeder, try planting a red or yellow flowering shrub that they like--like a sage--close to the feeder. Worked for us :)

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 11:39 PM

Hummingbirds like columbines in flower (and finches love the seeds). Hummers also like penstemon, another perennial which flowers for a long time and comes in a range of colors and varieties. If it is "totally tubular" it is on the menu. :) Carolly

Thank you. Great model. Our loorikeets would love it. BTW has anyone seen a model of a loorikeet?
