Subject: saving a bryce 5 file???

need help. why does the saving of a 30 MB bryce 5 file lasts very very long? over two minutes! that is a really bad workflow. sometimes bryce saves the same file as 1131019642 (file name) or so. why? i would be lucky, if someone knows the answer. thank you. The number of imported objects, DEMS and phototextures are of most influence to saving. A scene with 10 phototextures and 10 objects can take longer to save then a scene with 1000 objects and a simple DTE-texture. I don't know about the numbery name. I can't remember getting files named like that. I quess I'm not much help, but maybe my $0,02 gives someone else an idea for a better aswer.

Wait until you get a really complex scene if you think two minutes is long. :) Basically it takes so long because it writes then deletes temp files (which that number file may be) to create the .br5 file. Big suggestion, don't click anything while it's doing this until the menu bar at the top disappears again. Even if the % done says it's finished saving don't beleive it until the hard drive stops and the menu bar disappears, otherwise you may corrupt your file. So far knocks on wood I haven't had that happen yet because I wait.

do you know about a direct link to get support from corelbryce?

Attached Link: ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/Bryce/

Good Luck I'm not sure how much Corel is still supporting Bryce but the website is www.corel.com and if you need the 5.01 patch it's at the above link

2 mintues, that aint nothin ;-) Ive had a Bryce file take 10 hours just to save. Its kinda one of Bryce's "unique" and annoying quirks :-)

save time will be increased dramatically if your hard drive is fragged. (well, for windows anyway)

Luckily 10 hours is a bit extreme. I rarely have files that take longer then 10 minutes to save.
