There was a thread on this somewhere before, but I had missed it, I was out of town or something. If anyone has that link, post it up. Anyway, I don't have my early stuff (it's all in storage). But, I do have a few drawings I did like 4 years ago. Obviously, you'll see I have a past in technical design. Just pencil and paper stuff. (badly scanned) These drawings were done for a company that I'm part of for consideration for prop design. Nothing had been accepted, so you'll never see this stuff in a movie, lol. AgentSmith

Very cool. My "traditional" background is is pen and paper drafting. Many years ago I helped design the concrete forms that were used to make the monorail and epcot center at Walt Disney World. I also worked on formwork for hundreds of highway bridges, and various turbine pedestals for power generation across the U.S. and Canada. I pity the fool who has a job where they have to deal the the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Very good technical drawing there AS. Have you ever done any painting? I ask 'cos that's where I started, oil on canvas, and still do from time to time just to stop getting rusty. If you'd like to see one I'll try and dig out a photo? Catlin

Cool, thanks for the link. Yeah, I have other stuff in my storage (not near my apt.), I've worked in various paints and in pastels, pretty much every medium. I've also did a little work in special makeup effects (monster makeup). Right now, I'm (basically) a personal assistant for my boss, but one of his companies deals (lightly) with the film industry, so I get some contacts and perks with that. Please, anyone else upload your non-3D stuff, it's always interesting to see what ya'all do outside of a program. AgentSmith

i've said it many time before, and i'll say it once again.. Outside of 3d art, I do everything. I've worked with every meduim there is to work with (mind you my talent is limited and I never produced anything noteworthy)

My incredible zero talent in anything remotely ressembling traditional media is the reason I do 3d - its my only chance to get the images out of my head :/

I sometimes do a bit of drawing, but nothing really special. I do need to work on it though. I also did a bit of origami and at school we used to make models from wood. When I was younger (about 8 years old) I would pick up every bit of junk I could find and tried to build things of it. Unfortunately my parents always found that my room got very messy and every once in a while I had to put all the junk away. I once did build a really nice looking little car (buggy type) from paperclips and pieces of plastic. It even had a steering mechanism. The only artistic thing I'm good at and do often besides 3D now is playing the viola and violin. Should I upload a little mp3 with my music somewhere?

Very cool. I produce films for a living so I guess thats my thing away from 3D land. Althoug recently, I've been combining the two.

I guess mine is tape, I'm still one of those die-hard analog multitrackers..;) I write songs, then play all the instruments..tho I've been a bit remiss lately. Have a Layla 8-track digital, but just haven't gotten around to using it yet..;) If the previous thread is the one I think it is, you can see why I go with computer art..;)

Agent Smith, Come to think of it I did spend four years in high school doing technical drawing, but I wasn't very good at it. Nowhere near as good as yours - but it does help me visualize how to model things to some degree. In college it came in handy making illustrations for reports and crosssections for maps etc. I also used to play a little blues guitar and did some photography.

Photography (usually nudes in B&W), Pen and Ink (sciFi, erotica, figure studies). I'll see if I can dig out and scan something suitable for this thread when I get home tonight.

This really is a talented group of people! My talents lie completely out of this field. I have been a full time mother for 20 years. During the last 6 -7 years I have worked in field of animal medicine. I am working on becoming an animal nurse. While being the full time (single) mother of 4 children, I have over the years worked with various media, am quite crafty with arts and crafts. I am an excellant seastress. My very first glimpse of any kind of graphic art came from a very dear friend of mine. (Marvel1, check out his gallery here at 'rosity) He was going to school and he would show me his work, it was the first time I had ever heard of Poser or Bryce. Then this past summer I got a copy of Bryce 5 from my son in law and have been hooked ever since. Hope this explains my slowness in learning the program...lol.

Cool stuff. AS - mind if I use that first design in my next pic? It's pretty cool. The paper lantern is cool too, but I particularly like those glass widgets. They are excellent. I want one! :) I wish I had studied art but alas I'd never done anything - 2D or otherwise - until I bought Bryce about 18 months ago. That's 32 years I missed out on. What a bummer. Actually, that's not true. I messed about on with a paint package my Atari ST in 1989 - 320x256 resolution in 16 colours - and got 3 pictures in a mag. Not difficult in those days, I think every damn thing got published. But I've ordered a Wacom now!!!! :)))))) So we'll soon see if I'm cut out for this 2D stuff... Trouble is, they're out of stock, so I'll have to wait :(((

Hmmm... Since I don't show my work on Renderosity too often (there is nothing in my gallery here yet), and as a thank you to those that do show theirs, here is a peek at some of my work.

Theyre both pretty old pieces I happen to have scanned in and on file at the moment.

The woman is done with standard pencil and the frog is done with color pencil. The frog was a study from a photograph prior to completing an original piece.

I'm trained in traditional media and have only of late really started to make a heavy push into digital illustration. I typically work in pencil, ink, and acrylics.

Alan-ASD....I have a chest full of photographs in my attic it's just such a job to get up there and haul the thing out, but I'll have a go. I guess I should add that photography is my other passion, up till now it has mainly consisted of weddings and babies 'cos that's what pays but I've got loads of pictures of all things nature. That's just made me realise I've got loads of textures sitting a box that I could use in Bryce, DOH! I'll see what I can dig out. Catlin
