I've been lurking for the last couple of months, learning lots from all you fine folks here. There are so many great props and stuff around here that I'm getting more ideals that I have time to actually work on them! Anyway, I've found so many wonderful things that I can use, that I also wanted to give stuff back as well. I'm new to 3D in general, (only been playing with it for a few months) but I made this indian necklace for a picture I'm working on for a friend, and since someone was looking for Native American type stuff, I thought I'd offer it up. I'll post it in the free stuff if anybody is interested in it, but I have a couple of questions first. What is the best format to post it in (within the zip file of course 8P)? Would it be better to post it as an obj or would it be better to post the pp2 and rsr files? Or both in the zip files? I'm using a pc and have never used a mac, but would like to make it easily accesable to mac users as well. (I know what it's like to find a really cool prop only to discover it's in the wrong format. 8P ) Also, would it be better if the texmap and the texture were in jpg format rather than a bmp? This prop doesn't have any, but I also have some trans maps that I made for standard p4 clothes that I'm thinking about posting. Should those be jpgs as well rather than bmps? Okay, now that this has gotten really long, I'll stop....for now. 8P I know a lot of you have probably heard these questions a million times, but any help would be appreciated. Also any suggestions for improvements to the prop itself would be more than welcome. Whisper

Whisper.. That is a fantastic Necklace.. Almost looks like the one I made in r/t.. I try to distrubte (sp) my props in pp2 format because actually (my props anyway) seem to be smaller in pp2 than they are in obj. And I compress my images to jpgs so the zipfiles are smaller. I really hope to see that necklace available soon. My Indian character has been screaming for it. :) Great job on it. Storm

Looks good whisper! Thanks for de-lurking and pitching in a cool prop.

That looks superb whisper, thanks for stepping out of the shadows and offering such a cool prop. It's entirely up to you how you distribute it, but (like Stormrage) I've found that pp2 are often smaller than an obj file. JPG are best for distribution across the web as they are smaller - especially any bump maps you create :) Again, thanks Paul

Great necklace! Thanks for thinking of us Mac people, but thanks to MacConverter, we should have no problems if you post it in the format you made it in. As MacConverter only works on a Mac, you couldn't convert for us anyhow.

Thanks everybody! I'll post the necklace (dang, I wish I could remember what it's called other than a necklace or choker!) in the free stuff today. I'll post here when it's up. Wynter, I take it your a Mac person? Can you convert a pp2 file, or do you need the obj file to do that? (just call me the mac illiterate) Paul, you mentioned bump maps. I've seen 'em, and I think I've used 'em (not sure, slept since then) but don't know how to make 'em. Any suggestions? Or do you know of any tutorials that cover bump maps? 8P Thanks again everybody, you guys are the best! Whisper

Looks awesome first off. Second as a Mac person we can convert the pp2 with MacConverter...

heya; thanks, it looks great! :) textures should be jpgs for compression and cross-platform compatibility. however, trans maps and bump maps should be gifs. they'll hold all 256 shades of grey with no loss.
