Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 20 11:41 am)
Cindy, Paul--I sent a message to tech@zygote.com (on their page) last night, but got a failed mail back this morning, so was just going to look for Chad's email address here. After they said the update was to correct the skirt length morph I don't really want to mess around with it. I'm going to look for Chad's email and send away. I'll let you know. Diane B
Hello everyone, We here at Zygote are working on this. We have not yet reponded to this thread because we are trying to replicate this on our end. We have tested the clothing pak skirt now multiple times on both Mac and PC and they appear to be working fine. There is the posibility that the installer is not writing over the old file(s). In that instance you could extract the skirt.cr2 (and skirt.rsr on PC) and put them manually in the place of the previous files. The files that need to be replaced are in the "RuntimelibrariescharacterVictoria Clothing" folder. We will continue to test the installers and find a salution for this. We will post as soon as we find and fix the problem. Let us know what we can do. Eric Allen Zygote Media Group inc.
Eric, I just extracted the skirt.cr2 and the skirt.rsr and replaced them in my library/character, etc. and they do not work either. The thighs continue to work. It also appears that the 'soften hip' does not work as far as I can tell. Better mention that I have the last Poser patch installed and the latest update for Vicky and that I'm using a PC. Diane B
I did the same thing Diane and got no results.. Still no length morph for the hip on the skirt... I also noticed the soft hip wasn't working either... I even went so far as to uninstall vicky's cloths, reinstall them fresh from my back up copy and then update the cloths by hand as Eric suggested... I don't know what else to do so I'll be checking back and hopefully Zygote will be able to fix this soon....
Ah, LOL, you did a similar thing to me. I went back and replaced the 'updated' cr2 and rsr with the original ones and the morphs work fine--BUT I get that 'flying up in the front' effect. I tried the updated dress and it sits pretty good, so I'm sure they corrected that problem in the skirt too. I'm wondering if the fact that my (and I assume yours) length morphs worked fine initially (before the update) is now screwing up the update. This is totally off the top of my head--I don't know beans about this LOL. Diane B
I don't know beans about it either but I'm beginning to think you and I are the only ones with this problem...lol You think we got a bum download or something?... ugh.. In fact I didn't even know I had this problem till I read your orignal post about this preplexing problem last week.. I'm so glad you pointed it out Diane.. Oh and I didn't add to my last post that I am on a pc and patched too... I don't understand why it won't work for us!... If nothing is done soon then I'm gonna ask Zygote for a new download to the orignal cloths.. I've downloaded the cloths update several times thinking perhaps the file was corrupted, but I'm thinking it's not the update after all.... Oh well, I'll watch and wait for some news from Zygote...=
Just so you two don't feel too lonely I've got the same problem & haven't found a workaround for it yet, except to touchup in post production. For the folks at Zygote... I've tried deleting & reinstalling the original d/l, extracting the update to a temp folder, & installing the corrected cr2 & rsr files by hand & still no hip morph for the skirt. One oddity I did notice is that both old & replacement cr2/rsr are exactly the same size. One further piece of weirdness... I have a character I saved with the old Vicki skirt before the update came out. When I loaded her today the morph works on the old skirt only but still has the "shearing" effect the patch was supposed to fix. However, If I put a new one on her from the library the morph is dead.
Right Cooler. I think that's what I meant--I reloaded the original skirt and the morphs work but it 'shears'. When I update, the shear disappears but the morph doesn't work. I take that back--just put the update back in and the shear, though better, is not as good as the dress. Oh, my update cr2 is different size than the original, but the rsr is the same. My thinking is maybe I'll add a transmap to the dress and use that for a skirt. The 'shear' is less pronounced, altho' I don't see why that would be. You would think it would be about the same as the dress, but it is not. The dress also has the correct morphs. Glad someone else decided to chime in on this--I just can't believe that there are just 3 of us with this problem--maybe no one else really cares G. Its also odd that Zygote can't replicate this problem. Maybe they need our original and update clothing paks? S Diane B
Hello everyone, We at Zygote have deleted the old files and replaced them with the updated files, and we have not been able to duplicate the problem. We were wondering under what conditions you are having the problem. We understand that you are all using the patched Poser 4 update and are on PC. If there is anyone else out there who has the problem under different circumstances, let us know. We have tested the skirt with and without victoria, There might be a problem if there are multiple figures in the scene. If this is the case, let us know. When you have the problem are you using the separate skirt length body group morphs or are you using the skirt body length morph. We will try to solve this as soon as we can. Your information is of extreme value. Thanks, Eric Allen Zygote Media Gorup
I'll have to play with this; I had some problems installing the clothing at home and Mictoria/Villie at the office so I haven't played with either that much... One thing - I have Windows NT at work, and Windows98 at home. I wonder - what OS are the people with the problem using? Maybe this problem only affects NT or only Windows9x or something?
otay here's my specs if it will help.... 400mz PII, 64mb RAM, 2 15 GB HD, running Win 98 (original PC edition) on the C drive & Poser 4 (with the latest patch installed) on the D drive. The problem occurs with any incarnation of the skirt, (post fix) I even tried with a scene containing 4 Vickies... 3 had the old skirt, 1 had the fixed version. All of the old ones morphed (with the shear of course), the new one just sort of sat there & laughed evilly :-)
300 mzPII, 176 MG RAM, 8 GB HD, Win98 2SE with Patch. I hadn't even tried morphing the body, but just did. When I morphed from the body, the 2 thighs lengthened and the hip didn't do anything--just as though I had morphed the right and left thigh and tried to morph the hip--which WILL NOT. I haven't tried it with more than one figure. In fact--most of the time, I just bring the skirt in to try it--except when I was testing the 'shear' in a sitting pose. I have to reiterate that the morphs work in the original clothes pak for the skirt--all of them. Diane B
Paul, your dress hip morph doesn't work? My dress morphs work fine. Now isn't THIS a mystery though?!? Strange, several people's morphs work, many more don't and Zygote can't replicate it. I bet its driving them crazy--esp. since some on Mac's work and some don't--and I'm guessing the same with PC's, altho' most everyone seems to have PC's (but not sure of wyrwulf). Diane B

I posted before I left and got only one reply about the skirt hip length morph not working. Has anyone else tried this--and if so, does yours work? Dagon suggested that I use Morph Manager and transfer the morph from the old cr2 to the new updated skirt, but the update was to correct the skirt length morph so I didn't feel this was a reasonable thing to do. I thought perhaps I could transfer the hip length morph from the dress (which works fine), but that did not work for me. Any thoughts? Diane B
