Subject: Making Skins?

Does anyone know where I can download the grid-map used as a template to create skin textures and faces for Poser?

Depends on what character you want :o) The templates for millennium people (Victoria and Michael) are available at DAZ. Also here, search Free Stuff for SnowSultan. He has made some excellent ones, I think for all the Poser people.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Thanks alot! I'll look for him now. I did try and do a search before, but really didn't know what to call them, lol.

Also, if you use UVMapper (either free or Pro version), you can load the OBJ for any character or mesh, and it will show you the template mapped on the item. You can print it or save it off in a file as well. Seam guides are better, but this method works as well.

ooh, that sounds good, do you have a link where I could find that? One more question, how do I preview the texture map in Poser, and after that, how do I use the texture map? Can ya tell I'm new to this? ;)

It's called 'uv mapper classic' and it's free. You can't preview the texture in poser. You have to use a paint program like photoshop or paint shop pro. Search in Tutorials here for 'texture making' or similar subjects. mac

Well you will need to start with the templates. Some models come with them, some can be downloaded as mentioned above. UVmapper is the smallest and fastest way to make new templates yourself from the OBJ file. (just remember not to move anything in the template, ok?) Then its just like being a kid again ... paint inside the lines *grin* To check your texture on the model, set the models materials to white and laod the texture in the texture section for each material in the object. Be careful of figures with multiple maps for head and body like Victoria and Michael I don't know what paint progrom you're working in, but here is a link to a basic tutorial on setting up a layered file to make textures. Useable for both Photoshop and Paintshop and indeed any program that uses layers. Have fun! and feel free to ask us questions ..we were all new once *grin* Lyrra
