This is the Oosterscheldekering in the Netherlands. This dam can be closed when there is extremely bad weather afoot, but it's open normally to allow normal tides in the delta that's behind it. It's an example of dutch water engineering :)

I like both images but in both cases they seem a tad too centered Vertically. Give it a touch more sky or forground (or water in the first one) and I think they would be perfect! Just my humble opinion. Magick Michael
