Subject: ..Few Questions For All You Poser Pros..

I need a little help with adding makeup/mascara/realistic eyes to my poser models.. that store-mannequin look is getting a little old.. 2nd, I wanted to do some rather soft over-lighting, that kind that creates a haze, on my figures, soften it up to get that warm summer light feel Also :D i'm wonderin if maybe one of y'all could help me with adding poser 5 objects to bryce, or if i could simply combine my poser 5 figures (i have 2 created ones i want to add to a bryce-made bg) with a pre-rendered bryce background (and hopefully, keep it looking at least semi-real) i know this is quite a few questions, but any help is appreciated, and if i'm out of line, no problem, ill delete the post immediately

  1. check some of the freebies around, there are plenty of makeup packs for Vicki, some for Judy (poser5) these may help you create you own, or you can open them up and see how the makeup was done on the textures and with a paint application you could do your own. 2. run over to RuntimeDNA and grab the free light packs in the freebie section by Travler these are some really nice lights. bunch of different ones. this will help a lot. Also check the tutorial on Curiouslabs site about atmosphere in Poser 5 and how to do it, adds nice effect like smokey look etc. kinda nice. 3. Pose model in poser, export as a OBJ and import in Bryce, bryce should see the textures and should import just lookin peachy. Don't try and export Poser 5 hair, it comes out looking horrible in bryce. poser 5 dynamic clothing and hair are near imposible to export. hope that helps.

Note : the Poser lights do not export to Bryce. You'll have to relight images when you bring the figures over

my memory is terrible today but I remember someone mentioned they were working on a way to export the Poser light settings to Bryce, not sure how for they got with it or whether they are still working on it at all.

ps. I have found that if you pass the textures through a skin node in the material room in Poser5 it will soften the shadows & give the skin of the model a nice healthy glow, which includes picking up more of the colour of the lights you use.

"if you pass the textures through a skin node in the material room in Poser5 it will soften the shadows & give the skin of the model a nice healthy glow," Any possibility to get a screeen shot for this? I use Poser 5 exclusively and Im not sure what a "skin node" is. Emily

yes! a screen would be nice :D i know the nodes, and i think i know what you are talking about, but a little tutorial or a screen or two of what to put in (once you connect the new node [and to which plug?] ) would be great! thanks for all your help guys/girls, any more would be appreciated as well >_>

oh, and how's this for starters (it's going to be a statue eventually)

AlphaDraconis, I love the wings!! Are they original, or did you purchase them? If so, from where. Looks Great!

yo.. extra question.. im trying to skin that model chick with red-veined marble to give it a more realistic texture than that super-smooth steel - grained marble looks better anyways - but im not getting any texture-ish response, it still looks like that pastel silver.. any idea what i could mess with?

ok I'll try to do it a little better this time :) Alpha the reason it's showing up as silver is cause the extra poser5 nodes don't have an affect on the preview unless you have it set to texture mapped.

right now to business :)

here is how a texture would normally attach itself, Mat Poses normally use this node connection.

here's the node to use between the texture node & the model

These are the settings I normally use for the node.

I also use the raytracing option & have all the shadows raytraced, it also has the affect of softening the shadows.

I don't have anything finished with these settings so this is just a very simple test using the daz3d coloured dusk light from the complex global lightset.

I converted the Ann Marie Goddard texture to use on Vicky2, I still haven't bought Vicky3 yet :) I'll get there eventually.

Yes I did mess up on the eyes texture :)
