Subject: V2 to V3 upgrade questions

What so I need to buy when upgrading? I use Poser4 only. What happens with my V2 library collections? Thank you, Steve

V2 stays the same, don't worry >^_~ My suggestions for upgrading are to purchase the base upgrade, the head morphs, body morphs, and the textures (very nice!) If you are a Platinum Club member, you get great savings on lots of V3 items. The face maps are all very beautiful, excellent quality textures. V3 is an excellent investment. I have spent a lot of money on her, but the quality of model is worth it.

How much of a Storage/memory/processor hog is V3 compared to V2. Can you improve this by limiting the use of morphs. I've basically gone back to V1 because on my machine I have these 50MB pz3's that take 3 minutes to load with V2 and I can sometimes get the same thing done in 18MB with V1.

V3 with all morphs injected is about 118mb and pretty taxing on the system. I've never used more than 4 or 5 morphs at a time and V3 is quicker and easyer on my system than V2. Nice thing about V3 is you have the choice to inject just the morphs that you need. Depends on what I'm working on for a scene, 1 V3 in a scene with lots of morphs and I can't tell the difference from V2. 3 V3's in a scene with bunches of different morphs and it can really bog down the system, but I have never had it crash, just takes a long time updating movements, and rendering. Longest I ever waited was about 22mins for a scene to load, it was over 300mb though so there is that. V3 is really nice, pretty much only model I've been using lately just for the fact that V3 is so much more realistic than the older models, without all the fuss trying to fix older models to look real. I have a XP1700 with 768mb of ram and a 60gig HD. I do have to burn my scene files to CDs as working on multiple V3 projects takes up more and more space on the HD, but it's not that big a deal for me. hope that gives you some info.

It really does all depend on how many morphs you have loaded. Something you can do that might save you space is to spawn a morph for the character face, then remove all the injected face morphs that you don't need anymore. You could do the same with the body morphs on each body part to create a new FBM of the combined morphs, then save the stripped character to your library with just the new FBM and face morph.

scorer, most V3 characters you will make will be smaller than a V2 if you remove the morphs you don't use. If you are careful with the morphs, V3 will actually be less taxing on your system than V2.

There is an INJ Pose creator available a DAZ. It is a Platinum Club item, and works as described. I have turned 90mb V3 files into 10mb files. Used correctly, V3 can be made into slimmer filesize than V1 or V2.

Can V2 items, (characters, clothes, hair, props etc) still be used in V3? Do ALL Daz products cost $1.99 after buying Platinum Club?

V3 comes with a version that can wear V2 clothing, but it won't use the V3 body morphs (head morphs yes, so you can have custom faces). DAZ have a set of uvs files that will make V3 take V2 textures, or DarkWhisper does a converter that will warp V2 textures to fit V3 and vice versa, with other characters to come. V2 morphs, and V2 characters, will not convert directly to V3 - you'd have to recreate the effect using the V3 morphs. Platinum Club lets you buy PClub items for $1.99, gives you and extra 30% off (in addition to any other discounts) on DAZ-created non PClub items and has no effect on brokered items (the ones with a "b" after the catalogue number).
