One question: did the wrestling guy submit his freestuff item on a legit server, then switch it to the Xupiter server (or add a Xupiter cookie) after it was approved?

For those concerned about spyware, such as Xupiter, I posted a thread in Hardware/Technical about SpywareBlaster to help against having malicious spyware installed. (Ref the link.)

I didn't do the initial approval, so I'm not sure. When I went to the site to check it out, I noticed that the Xupiter pop-up wasn't consistant, so it's quite possible that it was always on that site and the approving mod was lucky enough to avoid the Xupiter pop-up. The submitter might have already been infected by Xupiter and didn't realize what the site was doing or didn't realize what harm Xupiter can cause. I know that PC Magazine did a survey about a month ago and recommended SpyBot and AdAware for cleaning out your computer. I had to run them today because I was hit by Alexa, another wonderful piece of spyware. (If you see a pop up jump up then suddenly disappear - not just behind another web page but disappear entirely - there's a good chance something was just loaded on your ocmputer.) Cheers!

SpyBot's Immunize section was what lead me to investigate SpywareBlaster. Alexa is also installed by IE for some of the search features. Maybe you were not "hit" with it, just "tagged". ;0)
