Subject: I need a man....

Scathdebas ( ) posted Sun, 01 June 2003 at 5:21 AM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 1:19 PM

OK, so it's not quite like it sounds. I have Koshini and V3. I need a male model. I have noticed that most characters, faces and mats I have seen for Michael just say Michael. Do the Michael 1.0 items work on Michael 2.0? I like Mike Bond and Nicotinus, Nicotinus says he is for Michael 2, but Mike Bond doesn't specify. How can you tell what will work with which Michael. And I hear rumors of a Michael 3.0 soon... so I don't know whether to buy Michael 2, wait for Michael 3, or just try out the V3 Male morphs. So I need some help deciding. One big concern I have is this -- which model will allow me the best options for clothes and stuff. Do V3 items work on the V3 Male morphs, do the Michael items work on the V3 Male morphs? And can all Michael items work on Michael 2.0? I hope I am making sense... Thanks in advance, Scath

Quick answers to your questions I know... Basically Michael 1&2 are the same...Mike 2 has more morphs but both figures use the same base .obj. All clothes/props/characters etc that specify 'Michael' should work with him unless the character for which the item was made for is extrenely or uniquely morphed. Most props like hair etc that don't conform can be easily parented to the figure and adjusted to fit with x,y,z trans. Last time I heard, Michael 3.0 was still chalk on the board, although I hope that's not the case anymore :( All female Victoria 3.0 clothes ca be made to fit the male version of her quite easily using an awesome little program called 'Tailor' or the maker of the clothes already included the morphs in the item(such as the fantasy dress over at Daz3D)...depends on what it is. Michael conforming clothes will not work 'out of the box' with Victoria 3.0's male counterpart for the most part, advanced editing of clothes is required, most props should be able to be adjusted to fit...again with some work. The aren't as many items out for Michael as there are for Victoria 2.0, but way more than there are for the male Victoria 3.0... So, Michael or the remapped P4 male over at port3d.com might be the way to go IMHO.

Online Now!

In one of the store threads, or maybe mimic threads, Steve Kondris of DAZ said M3 was off the chalkboard and into production. Presumably, as with V3, a new wardrobe and character roster will be required for the new figure so it won't immediately be a good choice for verstility.

If you need a man, Michael 2 is a great option. When Michael 3 comes out, you can upgrade at the upgrade price. I personal do alot of Michael images. I have used Victoria 2, Victoria 3 and the V3 Male too. All are great for diversity. If I want clothes for the V3 Male, I either use the V3 Ultra Catsuit or Morphing Fantasy Dress at Daz which have the morphs. Xurge has alot of V3 Male clothes at www.runtimedna.com and there are two great Testures for the V3 Male - one is V3MTP by dalinise here at Renderosity or Adrian - the COmplete V3 male by Syyd at runtimedna. I do find, however, that alot more work needs to be done to fit clothes on the V3 Male and getting a body shape that isn't disproportioned. Michael is perfect and there are alot of textures and clothes for him. It is funny that some folks call Michael's chest - unfortunate Man breasts but if you want a slimmer man, there are morphs. LOL! If you got $ I would get everything really - M2 and V3 Male and upgrade to M3 when it comes out. (Encouraging you to spend. Anyways, take a look in my gallery. I have got example images of V3 Male and loads on Michael. You can make a hunk out of either:-)

if you want a guy that looks like a guy go with mike2, V3 male is not manly at all, and leaves a lot to be desired. Mike 2 also has quite a few clothes options now, if you are going for a youthful pretty boy, you could get away with V3

The best bang for the buck is Mike 2 CD package with clothing and hair. There's tons of cloths for him, he's complete with most of the morphs you'll want, and there are lots of freebies for him. I have 6 clothing packages for him in freebies myself (more to come late in June). There are also a number of free or very cheap textures available for him. The V3 Male makes for a nice variation from M2, but it still has a lot of female attributes, and the muscles for the male never look quite right. Steve said M3 was off the chalk board and being worked on, but he has no release date yet. The best deal on clothing is still PoserWorld. Steve Shanks has lots of cloths for Mike, as well as a few nice pieces for the V3 male (and tons of stuff for the V3 female). He's even started doing Konishi clothing. The last option is Ichiro. He should be coming out at Daz in the next few days (acording to his designer). He's a Konishi style male figure, but I believe he uses a new geomitry. From the previews posted here, he looks like a great partner to Konishi.

I'd advise that you go with M2 also but it's a tough time right now - we are betwixt and between Michaels - so don't wait too long :) dirk5027 - I can now say I disagree with you about the V3 Male but I did have the hardest time finding the 'right' look. Obviously, like women, men and 'maleness' come in A-Z forms but I had a hard time finding a specific look. I had a sort of epiphany while working on a recent texture package and have changed my mind. V3's male morphs are very workable for a whole variety looks but you have to work at it. RDNA does have probaby the highest ratio of good V3 Male related stuff in a variety of categories, though. There are some excellent morph and texture packages. Scathdebas - good luck! Regards, Nancy.

I'll second Poserworld for V3 stuff. They have several very useful looking items for the V3 male. Including a suit, and dress clothes set. casual clothes and a body suit with boots! and a ton of cool looking stuff for V3 female. I think it's not so much how many clothes a character has as it is how useful and versitile those clothes are. I don't have V3 yet (Though I just got the green light from my overlor--er Wife to get her and Mimic 2 :D) and I do have Mike 2. But I'd say I probably have nearly as many useful clothing items for V3 male as I do Mike, thanks to Poserworld. :D

BTW Is the male morph pack for V3 worth the money? How much can you do with the basic V3 face and body morph packs in a male way?

Crescent ( ) posted Sun, 01 June 2003 at 11:10 AM

I really like the male morphs for V3. I think you can get some good looking guys with it, but, yes, it takes a little work to make the face more masculine. (It has to do with the eyes and eyebrows, in my opinion.)

Patricia ( ) posted Sun, 01 June 2003 at 12:05 PM

Sydd Raven's Adrian looks like the most masculine V3Male so far, at least to me. When I find the $$ I'm getting him. I agree it's in the eye/brow area that a lot of the characters for him are too feminine...unless, of course, you're trying for a slighter, younger male figure. My personal peeve with Mike 2 is his puffy shoulders, but I'm learning to deflate them and blend them in with his neck better. I would like to see more realistic facial morphs for him (which M3 should provide). My two favorite textures are both by Catharina Harders: Tomy and Angelo, though BreathGen Leo is nice for younger Mikes. If I were in your position, Scathdebas, I'd probably go with Michael 2 and then upgrade to M3 when I could afford it. Mike 2 is very versatile and has lots of character packs and stuff available (set aside enough $$ for at least a 3 month membership at PoserWorld, by all means!).

You can't have mine - he's taken ;o). Seriously tho, Michael 2 is a good choice. But there are some great looking morphs for the P4 Dork floating around too. (if you happen to be using P4, that is) Mike is the guy for me tho (when I use him). I have the Boris morphs from Capsces which are truly awesome and Bishonen from Daz. I also have Mickey, which makes Michael look like a lanky kid :o). Between the three, I can get some great looking characters from Michael :o). Laurie

Wow! Great answers, thanks! I am going to go look at some of the renders and see how I feel. Poserworld is a weird site. I haven't figured out its navigation yet -- to me it looks like one huge front page with no links to the "stuff". Apparently I am missing a gem there, huh?

You have to have a subscription to PoserWorld. Once you subscribe, you're given a special link where you can enter your name and password to get into the site. You'll find all the links to the goodies once you're validated. Cheers!
