Subject: V3 does not work! What am I doing wrong?

luichy ( ) posted Tue, 03 June 2003 at 9:56 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 8:11 AM

I tried to install DAZ's Victoria 3 to use it with Poser 4 but something went wrong (I think). I get to see the figures of victoria 3, but when I load them in the scene the program tells me that the file has a newer version number (or something like that) and that it will attempt to read it anyway. After a few more error messages If finally loads V3, but when I try to find some poses to apply the poses menu doesn't show me anything, just blank guys (I hope you know the ones I'm talking about) and the system just hangs for a while. What is the problem? Doesn't V3 work in Poser 4?

Sounds like you have loaded the version for Poser Pro Pack which uses pngs instead of rsr's-- that's why the shrugging guys are showing up. That's odd since the exe either loads both or loads the correct one for your system. Do you have two choices for Inject files? one that says PP after it? Emily

Have you installed the update for poser 4? I got that when I re installed poser 4 and forgot to install the update.

There is no Poser ProPak version of the Vicky 3 figure. Yes, you often get that "newer version" message if a character of figure was created with ProPak. However, you also get that message if you haven't updated to Poser 4.03. I'm still mystified about that. I thought the 4.03 update was a couple years old and everyone would finally have updated by now! If you don't have the update, click on the link and get it.

I am pretty sure it is the rsr file in the geometries file, I had that problem too....once I deleted it, all was well. Sharen

I use V3 in Poser 4 with no problems. I've never installed any updates (the version number on mine, out-of-the-box, is 4.03.127, so I think it's already updated - I purchased it after the update was already out) That's the error message you get whenever you try to load anything made with PPP or P5.

Sounds like time to email DAZ....Since V3 has an installer, it's probably not anything you did wrong yourself. Their customer service is very good, providing you don't wait until Friday to notify them of your problem ;)

We're missing many pieces of the puzzle. We've narrowed down why we'd get a "newer version number" error. It's not because of a corrupted geometry file. There was a mention of some other error messages, with no details. The clue lies in the unspoken error messages, I bet!

Thanks everybody. You've been a great help. Now I made Victoria 3 to load. The problem was with the update. You have to forgive me because Im new with this and I didn't know there was a Poser 4 update released. Anyway thanks everybody. You've been very helpful all of you.
