Subject: Question on how to fit clothes

Ok, this is probably a basic question, but I don't know the answer: How to fit clothing to a Victoria 3 (or 2) based character? I've got the DAZ3D Anna-Marie Goddard character which is of course a set of morphs (INJ-file) on top of Victoria 3. How can I easily fit Victoria 3 clothing to the model? Do I have to use the tool 'the tailor'? Why can't I just use the INJ-file on the clothing (since that doesn't work). Or is there another way? Thanks in advance

The morph rules still apply, even for injection morphs: a morph is designed for use with a particular geometry, so morphs made for the Victoria mesh probably won't work on clothing meshes. That said, several items have been updated with morphs for the Anna-Marie character. If you have the V3 Bikini, V3 Sleeveless Body Shirt, V3 Ultra Catsuit, V3 Active Wear Basics, or Victoria Updo 2.0, you might want to visit DAZ and download the updates.

All meshes are essentially points in 3D space (aka vertices). The 3D program's code "makes up" the rest from these points (and further info, such as light, tex, etc.) Morphs are information on position changes for some, or all, of the points in a model. Hence, they are inextricably linked to the points they're supposed to move, i.e. the mesh for which they were made. Since the points/vertices in a clothes model are usually not the same as those of the figure, the morphs can't be transferred "raw". Tailor calculates from the figure morphs what position changes are needed for the clothing's points to match the figure's morphs. So, unless clothing has been made specifically for the character (such as AMG), you need Tailor to "clone" the character morphs to the clothing. The creators usually put information in their product descriptions about which morphs are available in the clothing - check out the products here in the RMP or on DAZ for examples.

Thanks guys (or girls) for the replies. The DAZ extra morphs sure help, but only for the clothes for which they make them. So it seems for other clothes I need the Tailor. I understand the technical issues why morphs can hardly just be copied from one model to another, but still...... at a users point of view it's too bad. By the way, the Voluptuous Vicky 2003 approach, by using deformers for deforming characters and clothes proves that it is possible to have an easy way to make it possible...
