Subject: What the Sam Hill is a "Poser Unit?"

God, is it frustrating to set your lights and actually need to render in order to see the impact of changing the "dist. end" setting. In preview, the lighting bears no relation to the post-rendered piece. And how in tarnation are you supposed to use "poser units?" anyway? (Sorry if I sound like Yosemite Sam)

Attached Link: One of Dr. Geep's tutorials on poser units

Search for Dr. Geep's tutorials on poser units...very helpful. I do miss him.

Hopefully, the Geepster will be back as soon as he has resolved his non-Poser stuff. Anyone in touch with the gent reading this thread, please convey our respects and best wishes to him.

I am able to see the effect of changing the Distance dial. You must have Full Tracking activated to see it. Same applies for the angle dials.

pookah69 ( ) posted Wed, 04 June 2003 at 7:11 PM

Where does one activate full tracking?

Connatic ( ) posted Wed, 04 June 2003 at 7:36 PM

On the side of the main display window, top right corner there are 3 buttons. The bottom of the 3 activates Full Tracking, which stops the box-like outlines of the figures when you pose, amongst other changes. It takes more RAM, but if your machine is <3 yrs old, it should handle it. It makes using Poser much more responsive in realtime. A mouse-over of the buttons should show the Titles of those buttons. If you never used FT, you are in for a pleasant surprise!!!

Sam, I've sent a note down to him. This prolonged absence is worrisome, but hopefully Dr Geep will be back at the blackboard. There are a lot of people who can write tutorials, but few who can make following along fun. His information just seems to stick better that way. Carolly
