Subject: Underwater Digital?

Fathers day is coming up, and my mother and I are looking into getting my father (an avid scuba diver) an underwater digital camera(something he's wanted for a while) I don't know much of anything about the number of underwater digital cameras or who makes decent ones, so I'm looking here for advice, any suggestions?

I know they make underwater housings for digital cams......and then I think relatively few.... not sure about actual under-water digis.

I am, therefore I create.......

This might help not sure if I have ever seen a underwater digi but there's a big world out there. :O )

Hmmm......How about a roll of cling film? Just one layer over the lens, though, y'know what that stuff's like for distorting things. If it works let me know and I'll give it a shot after it's been field-tested. Or lake-tested, more like. (",)

Oh, just thought. What about modifying a Tupperware box? They've been advertising for years about being air-tight, reckon it might be worth a shot. :-) (",) (Worth a SHOT - geddit?!? he he he)

I remember years ago somebody suggested Ziploc. Not sure how reliable and if it works. (I will not dare try it on my camera though hahaha...) Don't take my word for it. ;-) (*

Crak - A friend asked me this question a few weeks ago and I have him the above link. They have housings for a number of cameras (he has an Olympus E10). Can't think of any digital cameras that are specifically made for underwter. -=>Donald

I just bought a Canon A70 for $269. You can purchase a housing built specific for it made by Canon for around $200. Not bad for a 3.2mp camera and underwater for under $500. (bhphotovideo.com is where I got them)
