Subject: Two (probably) dumb questions about lights

  1. Why lights in Poser 5 library dont cast shadow and have strange dials (grouped under ShaderNodes) that others dont have? 2) Do you find more realistic using ray trace shadows (enabling ray tracing) or depth map shadows? Im wrong or first solution seems a bit more fast in FireFly? As usual, excuse my bad English, Im Italian

  1. The lights in the Library might have shadows disabled. You should be able to turn them on. I haven't really used them. 2) Unlike raytraced shadows, depth-map shadows produce nice, soft edges. I too have noticed that shadow-map calculations are extremely slow when using the Firefly renderer. It certainly isn't that slow with the P4 renderer.

So for animation, unless I'm missing a setting, ray-traced shadows are out of the questions. Every animation I have rendered using ray-traced shadows has the "spasdic shadow edge" effect. Is there ANY way (i.e. setting) around this? Thanks, Tim
