Looks like this person has stolen some images from our Vue gallery here and appears to be selling them. A few folks in the Poser forum found this and are contacting the individual who owns the site. You may want to check and see if any of your images are there. I thought I recognized a few.

BTW, you have to page down kind of far to see where she/he has the image thumbnails.

Seems like now on ppl has to watermark their pictures before submitting in the galleries! But, when we submit a picture online, does it have any sort of automatic legal copyright? Or we supposed to register or trade mark it? How does this copyright thing works by the way? Specially for the international situations.

The minute you publish your art work (in print, online, etc.) you are the copyright holder on that work, but it never hurts to put your name and a copyright notice on the art work somewhere, preferably where it can't be cropped...check out the admin forum on Copyright laws to the right---->

this is the information I found when I ran a search. It must be nice to be so popular that others feel the need to do this. I don't see that they are selling the prints or did I miss that? That is how this person can get in trouble if they are really printing the art and selling it. I have seen this before. Some times they will just use the art as a leader to get people to be interested in their other products. Either way at least they could ask. The pictures still have the gallery numbers on them. If valueweb is the host you can have the site shut down by emailing them that the user is stealing others works and has them for sale on their site....however, a polite cease and desist may work before having the site pulled...

Gosh! I hope you don't work for Australian Intelligence! :-)

Now I know they are not selling those arts, found out that ... they gave credits to all artists and their links of the renderosity at the bottom of the thumbnails page. Just to prove myself an idiot, didn't look thoroghly before. :-)

Thanks Zhann for clearing up some confusions.

No problem Nish and anyone can do a domain search on the net just ask your seach engine how. It is not a very private thing. There are many sites that will use art as a way to draw in a veiwer in hopes he may click an add banner or buy something. I have seen it many times. :O)

TheWingedOne ( ) posted Fri, 06 June 2003 at 9:47 AM

This guy must be really dumb! He didn't even changed the names of the images. Right on the bottom there are also links to the artist's gallery here at Renderosity (e.g. Morris, linwhite,ToxicAngel, turtle...). This seems to get worse...I don't understand why people steal other people's artwork. Phil

Some of the folks over at the Poser forum who's images have been taken and put at this site are upset because they weren't asked first...it doesn't matter if there's a link to a Renderosity gallery or not. I agree; it's pretty poor form, imvho, to take images without asking. But then again, someone told me a long time ago, that if you don't want someone to take your images off the net, don't put them there. So I suppose we just hope for the best.

Can't find it, guess it was already pulled out from the site.

wabe ( ) posted Fri, 06 June 2003 at 3:27 PM

Yes, it seems the page is gone for now. This morning i had the chance to see it still, now it is gone. Even this showed that these guys knew exactly that it was illegal what they have done. How can anybody be so dumb to think that nobody would care? But good to know that making things public does have an effect!

Hmmm looks like they are still there perhaps only now it requires a password to get in. Interesting approach. http://www.arielsdreams.com Give the main page a look and click Ariel's Galleries. BTW the phone number has been disconnected I gave it a ring. If you really want the pictures gone I think you will have to deal with the server provider.

Hey I just noticed this foot note at the bottom of the gallery page. By Mr. Lang To have your tastefully created work staged here please contact anthony.lang@arielsdreams.com All art is displayed with the express written/e-mailed permission of the artist. I guess all we have to do is ask Lin or Hobbit eh? We maybe making a stink over nothing. Or this could have just been added to keep us quite. LOL Oh well. Live and burn.

The link above is now 404. If you go to the main page and then to the Ariel's Gallery link, it has only 2 artists now, with links to their sites and to their stores. It also says that s/he got permission to display the images. (The gallery had over 100 images before it was pointed out, with a lot of artists going, "Who is this schmuck and why do they have my stuff?") One down, a lot to go. ;-)
