Sorry bout the longwinded spiel but I figured it might be handy for some ppl to use. What I have done with all my materials is unpacked them, imported them into Bryce and then rendered a small images of the material on a sphere, groundplane or whathave you. I then name the image the same as the material or name it from the pak...ie johnmaterail_1. Then I export that paricular material, if it is part of a pak I name it the same way ie johnmaterail_1. Once I've done that I file them into their respective areas..water,terraind etc and then I burn the pics and the materials to CD. That way I can browse for the materials I want with an ordinary image viewer and then import the one I want into Bryce. While it does take a long time and takes planning especially if you have a huge amount of materials it is well worth the effort for several reasons. A: you can find mats sooo much faster B: It saves the horror of hunting through zips and having heart failure if you can't remember the name and think you have deleted it by mistake :)and C: You save on adding more to Bryce thus making your computer groan as it loads up the material libraries. I have also done this to my Bryce objects as well seeing as how they are unviewable with all mesh viewers. What I do with all my materials or meshes also is to rename all the readmes to the file name that they are for and store them with the materials. I've done this mainly because I got these mats long before I realised you had to keep the zips :) The newer ones I just chuck the zips in with the render mat image. Hope this helps Regards Eshal

Go to http://www.wolfiesden.com/ In the downloads section he has a Bryce 4 Librarian program that he wrote for B3D. Works for B4 for everything except swapping in/out skies. He also has a Bryce 4 gallery maker tool. It reads a .mat or .obp, pulls the description and thumbnail out and writes the HTML to put it in a gallery on a page. I'm starting to think about using this to put all my stuff on CD and make an index for each directory in html for easy browsing/location. HTH, John
The Bryce Librarian at Wolfie's Den is really great, but his gallery maker has been unavailable for the last 8 months, which is how long I've been checking back every week, hoping he'd make it available again. Try emailing him with a request for it to be available, maybe if enough of us do so, he'll get around to it. In any case, if you don't already have it, GET his Bryce Librarian, it's a Godsend when you have lots & lots of objects & materials to keep track of.
