THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Edge Softness -- Bryce 4 versus Bryce 5

In Bryce 4 when you created a light source and clicked on Edit two of the options were the strength of the light and the other was edge softness. They were the boxes on the left of the dialog box. In Bryce 5 when you create a light source and clicke on edit, Edge Softness appears as a parameter, but does not seem to be "live". It is grayed out and I cannot get it to respond. What am I missing?

the only thing I can think of is that you have chosen a radial light - for obvious reasons edge softness it doesnt affect it. Still using B4 so I'm not 100%

It doesn't work with the radial light, but will work with the other lights because the radial light is non-directional. Hope this answer is helpful.

Even though Bryce 4 lets you adjust edge softness on radial lights, it doesn't do anything to the light. Like everybody said, in B5 the option is grayed out on radial lights because it doesn't effect them.

Thanks. I think that is what the problem was.
