Subject: Store stuff wanted

Huolong ( ) posted Sat, 07 June 2003 at 11:51 AM · edited Fri, 20 December 2024 at 2:40 AM

Aside from Trekkie, few folks make plain stuff that goes on shelves in store or homes. While there are some good stores now being made (Modelz), I need stuff to put on shelves ... not only US standard, but that which you see on shelves in Europe and Asia. This boils down into boxes and cans ... rows of them. Also, clothes hangin on a rack in a clothes store. How can Vickie, Stephie, and Posette go shopping without any stuff to buy?

ooo ya your right moe...hehe and its just up my alley to. well the boxes and cans types, not the clothes hanging on a rack although i can do the racks...lol

For clothes on a rack, I have rendered some clothes (full fontal) on Tiff and used the image on single planes with transparencies made from the unused image...also with the Crowd Generator, This works for full frontal images, or with specially made side views. I have taken individual cans and boxes that others have made, and exported/imported them back in. Time consuming for a task that detracts from the time I would like to spend cooking up story, drama, and camera angle. One of the older sites had a cooler and a magazine rack, both filled with texture files for the content.

Hello, I am a freelance modeler. If you are still looking for objects of this type I would be willing to model custom objects for you for a set price. If you would be interested in something like this please contact me at: aronk12@aol.com Sincerely, Aron Kerr FoopCGI

Heh..I've actually been considering making such things...though I hadn't thought about clothing racks...heh.

Huolong ( ) posted Mon, 09 June 2003 at 7:41 PM

I'm not a commercial artist, I poserize for personal pleasure. As a result, I won't pay for custom stuff as I what I can afford is far less than the what it costs for custom made props. If what I want is also what others will want, then I'll buy what the market calls for. Trekkie and others are making freebies in this same category of product, but in doing so, build a following and a demand for more serious stuff. I believe there is a bigger market for stuff ... too many images posted here and there from Poser lack the usual amount of clutter that is seen in real life. More clutter with low polygon count is what is needed.

Okay, just so I got it clear... you don't want the rack nor the shelves. You just want the contents that go on the rack and the shelves... like boxes and cans, folded shirts and hanging dressess, knick-knacks and bric-a-bracs... right? This really does sound like a fun project. Lemme clear my desk, I'm game. :o) Cheers! M

Moebius87, may I call you 87? You have it right. Shelves I've got, but nothing to put on them. Recent releases of some food products (cereal boxes, meat in packages, canned goods) only whet my appetite ... now I can partly stock my kitchen shelves and refrigerator ... enough for a weekend. But where to buy? The stores are empty? PS: The same boxes and packages could have multicultural (diverse, ethnic) labels.

Hiya Huolong, You can call me "shirley" if you want to, but most folks here call me "moe" (short for moe-ron). :o) Are you going to do the textures and labels yourself, or are those all supposed to be included? I make nice packaging boxes (all the way down to the bar code stickers), but those take way too much time to do. Too involved. Can someone else help do labels and uvmapping, please? Cheers! M

OK Moe, the textures are the what would make a package attractive. Note the many texture files for sale for freebie originals. Once a model is made, and template is available (or the original text) I often made variants. I'll take what's available and improvise. Until I learn more about modeling, I rely on those who get their jollies from making models. What models I make are usually a collection of primitives.

Huolong, remember my folded linen too (well I guess you KNOW of that ;o) )it could me made to resemble various stuff on shelves. also the morphable cloth in the Spick-and-Spam set which I know you've bought (thanks =o) ) have some morphs for laying on something flat like a shelf. With some rescaling and a transmap it could resemble clothes I think. Hmm... I think I'll try some more "shelves" stuff soon. Not sure if it'll be free or for sale yet. Keep a lookout fopr something :o) ~TrekkeiGrrrl

And you included the freezer too! You are too cool. (it's available in the Free Stuff area now...get one before they are all sold out) ;)

Huolong ( ) posted Fri, 13 June 2003 at 2:50 PM

Looks like a sizeable download for the freezer stuff. Gertrude doesn't add the zip like a semi naked Vicky in a temple though. Don't they use sex to sell food somewhere I read....?

I think Gertrude is pretty darn cute. Of course I resemble her more closely than I do Vicky, so I may be prejudiced (just a little).
