Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 05 2:05 am)
There will be vertex count, UV map, joint parameter, and morph changes in M3, undoubtedly. I'm only holding out because M2 doesn't give me the fine control required to create true, realistic, accurate Asian faces. V3 isn't perfect, but much, much more is possible. Plus, M2 can sometimes be a little to "superhero" or "muscleman" for more androgynous or younger characters. BYS
I'm may have even said this before, I'm sure there will be benefits to a standard vertex count. I hold the value of a meshform by the number of MTs I've collected for it. If the Mil' Characters had all been forged from the same count there would be so many more MTs to apply at once, because people would have more time for handling. I just hope DAZ keeps this in mind when considering only adding a few vertexs to a revision of a Mil' Character. The count needs to be the same to use an MT collection.
There were two things changed in V3's vertex counts, I noticed. First they made the mesh closer-pitched, especially in the head to improve the detail (and I think to allow more extream morphing) Second they moved many of the joint edges around to make the limbs bend better and allow JCM to work better. Either change would prevent old morphs from working, so why not do both, I sure they thought. If neither, why bother making V3?

I'm been into Poser since V.3. Lately I've been giving serious investment consideration. This involves having several M3 Face MTs made, via various services like 3D Scanners and Online Photo Manipulators like facegen.com, of myself and other prof. models. My first concern though is that M3 and other revisions may come with alternate Vertex Counts, thus rendering my investments useless. Has anyone else held back work on Mil' Figures for this same reason? I hope to see good reason for any vertex count changes, such as has happened with V2 to V3.
