This kind of evolved from a discussion I had with a fellow R'osity member a few weeks back. He had made conforming figure to had realistic body hair to M2. The other day I was thinking, what bout if you wanted to add a tattoo to M2 and didnt really want to mess with an existing texture or worry with that whole matching issue from back to front? So I made a conforming figure of an M2 arm. UVMapped it and made a test map for it. The white halo effect is from my rush to make the trans map. Needs some tweaking. So far I've only done the right arm, but might do the left if I find any interest.

Thanks,
Dave

Quite interesting, certainly a way to tattoo effectively, as well as the possibility of using transparency settings to make a tattoo phase into view in animation...

That's a pretty good idea. Are you going to make other parts? Possibly a full body version?

depends on what the interest might be...

Certainly is interesting. If you've got Poser5 you might also be interested in the recent tattoo freebie by Medusa Graphics, which blends a body map and a tattoo map in the material room. The tattoos can be resized and positioned by adjusting the UV scale and coordinates on the tattoo image map node. A fading effect is also made possible by adjusting the texture strength of the tattoo, but this effect doesn't seem to lend itself to automatic creation of animations when the texture strength is adjusted in key frames. I've just had a very quick play with "a hairy Mike" and a bit of realism does seem possible by blending the body and tatto maps in this way.

Somebody did somehting like this with Posette ..actually his version has 3 skin layers so you can blend different texture via transparancy.

You can do this sort of thing very effectively in Bryce.

Yeah but this if for the poor people who dont have Bryce or who find Bryce a little intimidating to work in. Dave
