Subject: June Challenge Entry

I took this while out camping last weekend. The photo is basically untouched, except for some noise removal by Neat Image (Thanx to Michelle for the link). It isn't as focused as I would like, however I love how the coals came out looking kinda purple.

Taken with Canon Powershot A40, 1/15 exposure, f/13, ISO 400. Thanx for looking :)

Where is the marshmellow? Love the flame! Not sure about the coals. I can understand how you like the color it is kinda neat! But it is also odd that the coals look purple instead of the glowing red color. Expecially since the flame appears perfect to me. I guess I gotta stare into flames more. Bsteph

Bsteph, I'm a little baffled as to where the purple hue came from. When I took the photo, the coals were white hot, instead of the red. I expected the coals to be white in the photo as well. I guess it is a technical thing that I don't understand. Shannon

I think it's for the time, maybe with f2.8 or f4. Well, nice to see your work again. I hope to see this cozy shot in the gallery.... hummm now I think, with f2.8 you'll lost this effect, is better like this. beautiful shot.

I've had the same experience with that purple glow, it is odd, maybe it's because it's digital?

Beautiful! I like it so much! Warm of fire and cold of night. A great and wonderful contrast.

greqat pic.....you wanna know what that puple is? the camera can "see" very well into the infrared spectrum of light, digital(mostly Sony)cameras are very good for ir photos. those coals are so hot the camera picksup the ir energy from them. Ir has no color and invisible to the human eye. You feel it on a sunny day though, as heat from the sunlight on your skinThe camera gives it a color, always purple. I primarly take lowlight and IR pics....i use an Infrared pass filter to block all normal light and only allow ir light thru it. theres ir block filters u can buy to block all the ir light as well. hope this info helps...
