THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Aren't Corel Wonderful?

BazC ( ) posted Thu, 12 June 2003 at 11:24 AM ยท edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 12:26 AM

I recently placed an order with Corel.com for Bryce5, I had to order it from the States because it's not available in Europe. This was just before I heard about Mac versions only being available on special order. So once I heard the news about them dumping Mac users I e-mailed them to ask them to make my order a Mac version. A week later I got a reply saying phone them. Not much help since by then my order had already been dispatched. I have just received another e-mail which I'm posting here because I am SERIOUSLY P'd OFF!!! "Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Service. The order you placed was indeed for the PC version of Bryce 5. We are not actually carrying a version of Bryce for the MAC. Since your order has already shipped, I invite you to call 1-800-772-6735 to set up a return for the order. We will provide you with return instructions at that time, and credit your credit card with the amount of the order. We are available between 8:30 am and 7:30 pm EST, Monday to Friday." WELL THANKS VERY MUCH! The bottom line is, I really want Bryce, I don't want to return my order but it's PC only. Anyone have any suggestions? I have a legitimate copy of Bryce now so this isn't WAREZ talk!! Two ideas occur to me, 1) Some demos can be enabled with a legitimate serial number, does anyone know if there are any Bryce demos around like that? I have a 30 day demo but there isn't anywhere to enter the serial number that I can see. 2) I believe that Bryce is a platform independent app. That is the code is the same for PC and Mac, so is there any way I could install the files on a PC and then transfer them to my Mac? I know I'm clutching at straws here, but I've been after this programme for over a year and now that I've bought it, I CAN"T USE THE DAMN THING! I'm now going away to cry in a corner :o(

Bryce 4 was a dual format purcahse, like Vue 4 is - so it's another anal move on their part in stopping this. You cant isntall a PC version and use it on a Mac period. I'd ask them to send you a Mac version - or have they just suddenly burnt them all? btw - I read in MacUser that they ARE going to proceed with a next version for PC!! - insult to injury - plebs!

Well what have they done with them all? I can't get over their attitude or stupidity - classic.

For what it's wortth Publishing Perfection appears to have some as well. Interesting marketing move - I'd bet that folks that have other Corel Mac products are worried. Even with Corel's assurances as to the rest of the Mac product line, if they'd do this to Bryce... Dan

Hello BazC,

I have a pair of dual Mac/Windows licenses of both Bryce 4 (full) and Bryce 5 (upgrade) that I am selling (RE: http://www.creativecow.net/forum/read_post.php?postid=105520780033477&forumid=38 at the Creative Cow forums). They come with the original boxes, manuals, and CDs. I am selling the set also with "Real World Bryce 4" book and sealed CD (ISBN 0-201-35438-1).

I am asking for $65 including shipping in the U.S. for the whole set and book; we could work something reasonable if you are interested. I've shipped once to England and the shipping cost is a little more than local (and the transit time was a little weird, probably because I shipped right after the Christmas holidays).

Anyway, let me know if you would be interested. You can do a search in the Cow forums for my name if you want to verify other items I've sold before.

" I'd bet that folks that have other Corel Mac products are worried." not worried...angry. Angry enough not to update the free copies of Painter, Knockout, and KPT that they sent me (they had a promo where they sent 1,000 free copies of each). Angry enough to abandon CorelDRAW in favor of Freehand (I've been using CorelDRAW since versions 3 (PC) and 6 (Mac)), I now have Vue and to be honest, the interface reeks - it makes me not want to use the program. I'm hoping Eric Wenger's new app has a Kai-like interface.
