Subject: Reflect map not working

I am making a prop of a hammer, I used uv mapper to make a map for it and it works fine but for some reason when I try to apply a reflection map to it, it just wont work! VERY FRUSTRATING! please help. thanks

Reflection maps don't work at all like textures or transparency maps. The maps are just wrapped around the figure. The effect will also change with the camera angle and the lights. Very small, simple maps seem to work the best. I used reflection maps on my pocket watch figure. You could use those as examples. You can download the watch from my site at: http://bushi3d.com If you don't want to download the stuff drop me a line at bushi@spiritone.com and I'll dig them out of the archive for you. BTW Yes! They can be very frustrating. ;-)

Here is a good start for reflection settings. The best Rule-of-thumb, is to keep colors in the same family. Example: If you're doing gold. Yellows in the highlights and a gold/yellow reflection map will yeild the best results. For silver use shades of greys.

giggle :-) Please read message before you post Allerleirauh, ;-) giggle "I used uv mapper to make a map for it and it works fine" So there are UV coordinates. But Deal, if you can't get a basic texture to map, then it's time to re-UVMap it. Keep us informed. James
