I don't really care one way or the other. What gets my goat is when people over use ! or italics in a regular email or letter. But that's just me. :)
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
hmmm wow.... lol. me thinks some people need more to do than worry about internet typing :P j/k ..+~SimdeZ~+.. :P
I don't mind the occasional tilde; what gets me is when someone will post an amazing image full of color and imagination...and then name it something like "~/". If I could make images like that, I'd spend the extra minute and come up with a catchy title. ;) SnowS

I've used them, I'm the guilty one Dave-so. I'm sorry. I've also used colored text, bold text, and italics. I'm sorry :*( (Nudity) http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=216004&Start=13&Artist=igohigh&ByArtist=Yes (No nudity) http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=214136&Start=13&Artist=igohigh&ByArtist=YesI've always liked the & in many typefaces it's quite elegant. Unfortunately many many weeks of playing Nethack in my misspent youth means I associate them with devils .... And yes .. the tildeing is most aggravating ... but even more so in a persons name. Makes me much less likely to see them as a serious artist. But that's just me.
Lyrra, some ISPs may be responsible for people putting tildies in their names. Earthlink for example forces it when one sets up their free webspace "www.home.earthlink.net/~username I've seen many around the web who seem to just adapt it as a 'web-thing' and go with it in everything else they do/sign up for. Yet there are others still who get their names 'assigned' to them by their ISP and have no choice (really they probably do but just don't realize it) and then they just carry that name wherever they go on the net. I know many avoid my username as they tend to think it stands for other then what I created it for, some won't even type it themselfs. But I've had it for a decade now over 4 different ISPs and just don't choose to change it. ie: igohigh = I go high...then I jump out.
I kinda like them..sets off that FRIENDS title nicely Dave~so Maybe I'll change my user name...or ~Dave~so~ nah... Dave~So~ yes, that's the one

LOL is overused. There must be twenty definitions for it which makes it impossible to figure out what someone is trying to express. It used to mean Laugh Out Loud and Lots of Luck, but I don't see these meanings here. I wish people would revert back to English and not this Smurf talk.

Isn't it time we had a moratorium on this silly gimmick in the Poser Gallery of enclosing picture titles in tildes? It is ~ Downright Irritating ~ And ~~ This is Even Worse ~~
