Subject: Mimic for Body?

Hi Folks, does anyone know a similar Program to Mimic, but 4 Bodyanimation? thx

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Sat, 14 June 2003 at 9:36 PM

No. Not specifically for use with Poser, anyway. I've seen some cool new procedural animation software hit the market lately (endorphin), but I don't know how well it'll work with Poser, even though it supports BioVision's motion-capture format.

What sort of body animation? Gestures, walking?

Dance Studio, but it locked up on PC... doubt if you would on XP I did not try it. Maybe Daz could buy it and rework it????

Little Dragon Scribed: >>What sort of body Animation? Haven't you heard of Body Language, LD? :P Regards- Lemurtek, dons innocent look, whistles softly, saunters off...

  • plots elaborate revenge against Lemurtek *

Something involving the creation of many wonderful things for his characters (hair, helmets, face morphs, footwear, transmapped conforming fursuits, Mimic compatibility, etc.) and then somehow never getting around to releasing them ....

Hah! As revenges go, that's pretty mild. Now Bloodsong, she knows about revenge (see link) Besides, I have the patent on that! (MY pile of unreleasies is way higher than your pile!) so my lawyer... er, well, Lemurs don't have lawyers, but karma will get you! Seriously, though, I can envisage a sort of mimic for body language, might be quite useful. Regards- Lemurtek

So, through how many 3D forums did she give pursuit before running out of ammo?

textPuppet adds a bit of upper-body animation, but I was never truly impressed by its lipsync algorithms or speech synthesizer.

how about Kaydara's MotionBuilder, you can get 1 years commercial license free at the moment with Digit magazine. (Digit is a UK CG Magazine but is available in many countries)

Lemurtek ( ) posted Sun, 15 June 2003 at 5:21 PM

That's the problem with Blood, she Never runs out of Ammo! :) I'm gonna have to check out Motionbuilder. So many toys, so little time. Sigh. :) Regards- Lemurtek

BTW, all kidding aside, LD, you really should release your stuff, it's very cool! Regards- Lemurtek

... but karma will get you!

She already has me. Haven't you seen the Music Box Dancer animation?

Seriously, I'll release my modified versions of your Second Nature figures in a week or two. They're all Mimic-compatible, have integrated AnthroEyes, ERC code is added to the tails, and some of them have new face morphs.

Hmm, looks like you can get that same 1 year license for MotionBuilder for $100 from the Kaydara website. Since it looks like their regular price is just under $5K, that seems like a good deal (if you can get past the idea that you can't use it anymore after the year is up). And I just looked at the website for Endorphin. Wow, that looks nice. Of course, since they don't list a price on the webpage I assume it is in the "If you have to ask you can't afford it" range. But it still looks like an interesting product.

well Kaydara gives you a 5,000 program for basically 200-300 bucks You pay for the first year and you can upgrade after the year for 100 dollars. Great deal if you ask me!!! I wish I could get it to work with Poser. Is easy to animate with and body parts don't flip and fly around and twist all out of place like when trying to animate with poser. Very cool way to animate. But alas, I wish I could get the bvh into poser, but don't know how yet. If anyone could help that would rock!!!
