Great shot! To help get the contrast you are looking for can I make a suggestion? This is from left field but it has worked for me, use a polorizing filter and a longer exposure. I am not quit sure why this has worked for me but it has! It tends to cut the flaring of the lights so I can get the more subtle shadow zones. Warning, its a B*tch to see through the view finder and get good settings. Bracket your shot when you try this. Magick Michael
Thanks for the suggestion. In this series I also had a 30 second exposure, but all it did was make the lights brighter. Should I use a higher ISO? I used 100 ASA for the sharpness..
I think the distance or the FOV is the key here. If I just took the cafe's on the left I think there would be much more detail. Anyhow, it is a learning experience :)

The city of Vlissingen. The ships below are the the pilot ships seen in my previous post in the gallery. This is y first serious try at night photography. Didn't turn out quite as I wanted. The contrast is much bigger that I anticipated. Maybe it's the distance.Details: Nikon F-601, Kodak Gold 100 ASA, 15 second exposure
