Tried to get back to my black and red color scheme (light sensitive eyes ya know). I can deal with the left and top menu no longer being configurable, but almost any other color scheme with a dark background really fails. The problems are with the fact that the unchagable color (like topic titles in the forums) fade on a darker background. Even going to a lightcolored background is a pain because then that bright green IM notification gets lost and is a strain on the eyes. Please, can we have other options to change at least these two text colors? Perhaps catagories like this; text color, link color, IM Notification color (this one could be the same as the link color). Oh and just noticed on this page, down at the bottom, the visited links are a medium color. Now I have that fading. Guess it's back to the garish white for now. Secondly, the width of the page has grown. I'm running at 1024x768 and even at the smallest text size the top border becomes wider than the screen. Is there just not enough room with the new logo or is there space in the table to bring the left side in further? Other than that, I like the new border colors with the logo, looks good.

One other issue. That color picker that you pop up isn't resizable. This normally isn't a problem but the buttons on the bottom are almost hidden. I can just see the tops of them. I picked the first on that was thinner and it turned out to be the OK button, no idea what the other one is. Heh, I know it sounds like I'm bitching, but really I'm not. Just figured you should know these things.

i concur... the colors are a bit of a strain and i was surprised to find that you could only change the background and text color

Thanks for letting us know on the color scheme box. Passing this on. Select your color schemes and then log off and back in. See if that makes a difference. tammy

Didn't log off, just refreshed again after trying different combinations. The links for forum messages now takes the text color. Other links keep a purple.

Truly the default background needs to be black it looks better in the galleries and individual images. Its fine and dandy that we can customize but you dont want visitors first impression to be OH MY GOD MY EYES. And truly the black background gives better depth not to mention there are many thumbnails out there that were made specifically for black backgrounds that now look real bad.

Ditto on the comments, please bring back the default black background, please - the white is really glaring :(

MGD ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 6:33 PM

The followed links seem to be a deep purple ... not easy to read on a black background.

Baron_Vlad_Harkonnen ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 6:50 PM

I agree MGD, something like dark grey would be easier for the visited links, maybe around #606060 would be cool and maybe #C0C0C0 or slightly brighter for the base text color - plain white-on-black is still a bit glaring. Oh yeah, just another alert for the admins - I adjusted the default colors in my profile and white text simply makes the main categories at the marketplace unreadable since the boxes are a very light brown and obscures the white text.

MGD ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 6:57 PM

I have an additional comment on followed/visited links ... Consider that on the top menu links (Galleries, Tutorials, Contests, ...); as well as the gallery navigation links ([First, [Previous], [Next], [Last]); forum navigation links ([Top], [Read new messages], [Archive], [Post a new message], [Search], [Help]); etc. ... since those links are not to a specific web page, perhaps they should not change color if "followed". Of course, links to a specific Artist, Image, product ... should indicate followed v. not followed. HTH, but always remember that YMMV

I support you on that one MGD :) Hopefully the default black background gets restored as this is the the MAIN issue.

anniedrew ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 7:30 PM

I'd say I have to agree, the old color schemes are much better and the new bright background is too much of an eye strain

sarahcon ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 7:36 PM

Please consider this admins, there are 176,000 potential customers to the Renderosity Marketplace and most of them are squinting right now... just a thought

I would like to echo what has already been said regarding the link and visited link colors. Please let us customize these. I don't mind the brown menu bar but I hate having the text the same color as the link color, and since I went with the 'old color scheme' settings, the visited link color isn't easy to read on black.

FWIW - Love the new logo, and don't mind the dropdown menus. :)

ROFL MOCK I have been a member here for about two years now, and "OMG MY EYES!" was my reaction to the new colors, God only knows what a visitor who is completely unaware of the recent changes would think. lol And kaciasea is that what they call that color? Its so ugly I didnt know what it was called. lol

Things are getting better. They added the link colors to the profiles page. Still can't change the margin links and the width is still wider than 1024x768 over here, even at the smallest font size. Of course I have my system set to large fonts and that could be part of the problem, but for some sites they have the font set so small, even at medium for the browser and large for the system, things are hard to read. I guess I'm just asking of things can be shrunk just a touch to bring it to 1024 screen width at large system fonts, with medium font settings in the browser.
