Currently, only the background and text colors can be changed. (Don't shoot the messenger, please.) The sidebar color, as shown by Larry F, is not changeable nor are the link colors. If changing your profile colors doesn't seem to help the white background, log off and close your browser, then reopen and log back in. It helped for me. Hope it helps.
Agree with you Cherokee69 Marque, just hit the 'Refresh' button on your browser and I'm sure the change will take - worked for me. I've just change mine to a black background (000000) and light grey text (e0e0e0) which dosen't glare at you. Hopefully someone fixes the default background color :/ Black is much better.
Now, I saw a lot of images that were 'pleasing to the eye', but the majority liked this one best. Think about how the artist must feel reading our reactions. I hate change like this - it was a great color scheme before. I don't think people 'thought ahead' to what it would look like at this size, and color combinaton. I live here, LOL! and it's like I ordered Waverly and got Combat Olive Drab. And I can't return it. I've been around here for years! I remember the neon green... Maybe it will grow on me.

Grab screenshot, load into Photo-Paint, get RGB value, find converters, none of which will download, find RGB to Hex code, create program, run...Jeeze. If anyone wants to have their background match the "chocolate" frame color, the code is 524745. Now, I'm not even sure I like that - definitely don't like the dropdown menus, a solution looking for a problem.

I can live with the colours no problem - heck they are only a default, and I didn't use the previous default either. (With my monitor at 6500K a dark text on black didna' work for me.) But I do have 2 problems with the interface change. Logout is now way out to the right, you need a browser window in excess of 800 pixels just to see it. Could that whole set of links be squeezed up a little in order to get the Logout more to the left? In the case of Login it even wraps at 800 pixel window which doesn't look to good/professional at all. But my biggest concern is with the Forums now being pulldowns rather than simple links. Not only does this now mean: locate pulldown, click, release, locate scrollbar, click, drag to locate Forum, release, click desired Forum versus: locate Forum, and click Forum with the old style (this remind me too much of Poser, dozens of clicks and twitches to do what is very quick and easy with other apps ;-) But more importantly I can no longer open a Furo in a new, or tabbed, window. You've taken away a very useful facility, to be able to instantly and easily open a second window by right clicking on the Forum link, and selecting open in New Window/Tab. Please give us an option to select Forums as a list rather than a pulldown. (Unless you can think of a better way to re-enable the right-click functionality.) I'm all for looks and style, but not at the expense of function.... Thanks.
Dave..I changed my text color to the number you gave for the right hand color (524745) and everything looks much better. The pulldowns for the forums should wait for a click on 'Go'!! If it has focus, but I've changed my mind, it goes anyway! Argghhhh, and with a scroll wheel it's easy to forget to click off the thing first, and then you don't know where you'll end up.
Yep, it gets worse. With Visited Link colour so similar to the normal text colour, how do you know where you've read too? I would open a thread in any Forum at the last item. Then when I revisited later I could see if someone else had appended more to the thread. Now I need to move my head this way and that, and stare at it - is this a visited link or not? I 2nd Spit - at a minimum gives us colours for Link and Visited Link. I don't want to have to force my browwer to override Renderosity's colours. I'm not against change if it's a step forward, even a small one. Give us more options, or more features, and I really don't care what the defaults are. But why make a change which takes away working features??? Doesn't ANYBODY think of testing in this 3D community any more? First CL, then DAZ starts in on the 3-bites-at-the-cherry, and now Renderosity. Just 'cos Billyware is done that way don't make it right :-)
Well... I'm not that keen on the new design, either, but speaking from a web designer's point of view (no, this is not my design), I'll just offer a bit of a defence on the part of whomever did this setup. The neutral colors are appropriate when the primary interest on a site is the art. Very bright or striking design colors can conflict with large, colorful images. Yeah, I do think this washed out taupe is pretty bland, but I understand the design choice, and it's a valid one. The drop down menus ARE a pain in the neck. I don't like them either. I like to right-click and open in a new tab so I can have mutiple threads open at the same time, and you can't do that with drop down menus. HOWEVER... People have complained about how long the sidebar was, and that all options weren't available on all pages, etc. The drop downs are an effective way to get a compact, clean sidebar that isn't cluttered with tons of links. Again, it's not to everyone's taste, and I personally prefer the links, but it's a perfectly valid solution to a perceived problem and design issue, so I guess I can live with it. I do wish the site had been set up with individual style sheet choices (which can be saved with cookies) so that we could choose our own colors more fully. I really don't think much of this color scheme as a whole, but that's more a matter of personal taste than of the design being flawed. There's nothing wrong with bland neutrals. ;) Basically, I agree with the consensus that the colors are icky and I don't personally like them, but the design, itself, is solid and clean, and the design choices are valid, in my opinion. bonni

I've played with the colors for a while now and set the page color to a blue-tinted charcoal grey, with very pale blue-cyan text. It works well with the taupe, so that's good. The biggest thing I have to complain about is that you can't set the link colors. Grrr. The white on bland taupe is really hard to see in some places. Blah. I wonder if The Powers That Be might consider looking into giving us the ability to choose our own link colors... It shouldn't be that much more difficult to implement than the page and/or text colors. bonni

The main problem is that the default colours do not look good. The clash between the sidebar and the main window is bad. Either go for light on dark or dark on white, but not both! Sure you can change it, but that's not the point. It ought to look good as soon as a new member arrives. I never had a problem with the length of the old sidebar and I agree with those who dislike the dropdown menus. Meanwhile other problems, like the speed with which interesting forum threads get buried, remain.

Yup! The colours suck! Not only that, they give you a text entry box for your prefered colour, but no way of looking it up.... Genius! :( As for the dirt brown, well... Anyone know how to get the colours back they way they were? I've always been green/yellow/red (even after they went purple :) any chance of making the whole interface confugurable like it used to be? Meanwhile, check the link for a HEX colour table... later jbMy border doesn't look like like Dave-So's screen cap. I have the usual ad across the top, and the text in the oily mud is black, not white. So I can't see it. And my used links turn bluish. Lovely. Oily mud with black text and the occasional crankcase blue. I assume they didn't bother to check their nouveau masterpiece with any browsers but MSIE? What a mess.
I guess I'm a minority too - I agree with Elizabyte (what a shock eh bonni?) - the layout is clean and compressed enough to make it less hassle to go down an entire page. I like the chocolate colour, but the background is too bright (although I have a migraine right now so everything is too bright). Perhaps if those changing the background used the alternate colours in the reply box for their background it would be easier and not such a drastic contrast? Most everyone hates change, me I'm tired of artist sites with the same old black or white colour scheme anyhow. Almost every site is either black or white (except 3-D Arena because I like colour lol)

Oh a few other points: if the drop down for the forums is a hassle then just click to go to the forums and pick from there. I have a hex code as well - at http://pajamapixels.com/colour_ref.shtml pretty easy to read (I think anyhow)

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing?
Another EXTREMELY annoying thing I've noticed is that in the store and various other places, there appears to be either NO font sent (causing the horrendous eye-straining Times New Roman to default, ugh!!!) or it's actually deliberately set to a serif font. I've changed Netscape to use Georgia as the default serif font because it's easier to read than Times New Roman, but on a professional website, the viewer really shouldn't have to do that sort of thing. :( Oh, and those dark blue visited links pretty much suck. Since I set my page color to a dark blue charcoal gray color, the visited links nearly disappear. Honestly, I've seen entire websites that are 100% 'skinnable' so tha visitors can choose from any of several design options, or set color preferences, etc. Given the problems and complaints about the new design here, perhaps they should look into that option. But, hey, if they'd just let me set my own link colors (text AND background options), I'd be happy. I can tweak colors all day. Oh, and one more thing... You can get a hex code in Photoshop 5.5+ or PSP6+. Just pick the color you want from the color palette and it'll show you the hex for it. From there it's cut and paste. ;) bonni

Well I thought that the people of Rosity will improve the layout, i'm not saying that this is bad but it's just not the one for the site, regarding to the new logo and other graphic stuff i personaly think there were a lot better than this one (just my humble opinion). Rosity it's a community is characterized for being a dynamic one, not one that looks like a Cigar-Club-Community (sorry guys it looks like one). I know it's an initial layout, but it have to be fix, and changed to the Rosity essence. make a poll or a wish list (like this one(?)) so every member of the community give their opinion. Cheers
The colors are liveable. I just went ahead changed the whole thing to the Count Chocula background and white text -no problem. Make that the default - the white gives a really bad impression to new visitors for an art site. Unconfigurable link colors was a mistake, just acknowledge that and change it. Somehow, I missed the clamor for more space on the sidebar. Personally, I never saw it as a problem. The dropdowns are a problem. Unless you're in the Mac world, many people use wheel mice and that combined with dropdowns is a real hassle. I agree it's a valid design choice, but one which probably causes more problems than it cures. If there is a crying need for more room, put a scrollbar in the frame. Nested scrollbars aren't my favorite interface but they're preferable to the dropdowns.

What a shock I had tonight when I got home from work and visited Rosity. I can honestly tell you that the new look and colors SUCK!!! The default bright white background with black lettering will blind you...who's dumb idea was that? You can't even change the colors to get to something pleasing to the eye. I hate drop down menus also...they are a royal pain especial if you have a mouse with a scroll button. The old color scheme and layout may have been around for awhile but it was much more pleasing to the eye and easier to negotiate. I enjoyed coming to Rosity but after seeing these new changes and colors, I hate to even open the site. Even the items in Free Stuff and the Market Place don't look as good as they did with the old colors. That dark back color for the old site(which you can't even get now) seemed to make those products stand out and complemented them better than anything we can choose for a color scheme now. My opinion....PUT IT BACK LIKE IT WAS!!!!! I don't like wearing sunglasses inside.
