Subject: Poser Forum Reminder :)

ladynimue ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 3:00 PM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 9:57 AM

Hey everyone, I have received several complaints lately about there being sOOooo many OT topics in the Poser Forum - And to be honest - I know how concerned everyone is about the new color scheme - And no one is saying NOT to voice your opinion - Just that we have to keep the Forum's Software related :) With that said, I am sorry to have to move the OT threads [threads that are directly related to Poser Topics] into the OT forum [or depending on the thread - another forum]. Just wanted to let you all know where the OT threads are going and why they are being moved. Please note that you can STILL comment on any of the moved threads - we just need to get back to Poser Related threads in the Poser Forum :) Thanks soOOo much for your understanding - And ALSO - Thanks sOOoo much for NOT shooting the messanger - ME :) Pleassssssssseeeeeeeeee - Have a great week everyone, and don't forget about the Magazine Cover Contest - which Does have to do with Poser :) ladynimue Poser Moderator

OT.....? What does that mean...Over Time? Sharen

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 3:14 PM

Lady Nimue, Shooting the messenger does no good at all. It is far more efficient to give the messenger many gifts and expressions of goodwill to his or her ruler. I'm sure that TPTB will love your new litter of adorable African Gambian Rats and give them all good homes. Carolly Evil Overmistress of the UnderDark

duh...I just figured it out...OFF Topic right?

ladynimue ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 3:17 PM

Sorry Sharen - I am just into the Mod Squad Tech Talk - MY BAD :) OT does indeed mean Off Topic Forum :) Also, when I finish moving the threads I will post the links to them here so those who still wish to comment in those threads can :) Thanks again for your understanding :) ladynimue

OT is what they replaced C&D with once they figured out that removing it would mean people bitched in the poser forum instead... later jb

ladynimue ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 4:50 PM

Below are the threads that were moved to the OT [off Topic Forum]

As many of these are related to the New Color Scheme - I am also posting this list to the Magazine Forum News.

If any of the following Members whose threads are listed below would like to have their thread moved to the Forum News Thread - Please IM me and I will be very happy to move it there.

However - I regret that I cannot move any of the following threads back to the Poser Forum [see first posting of this thread]

Thanks again for your understanding

Odd, that's the same language used in the graffiti beside my house this morning. Now I know why we need to have labels for children on this website. There are so many of them here.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 5:17 PM

You know, not that my opinion means anything, but having the different colors, how can this be a big deal if you can change the colors. I have mine all turned back and quite happy with it. Also, the drop down menus are great, no more scrolling. I like that. Just don't know what the big deal is? I like it. At first it was a shock, but given the option to change it has made this a good thing. Just my opinion. Sharen :-)

Of all the universe of things to be worried about (which includes, for me, teenagers drunk in the streets after midnight destroying property), it does seem that this is much ado about nothing at all. I guess we all have things that we enjoy being angry about. I'm beginning to think Renderosity is just an easy place for people to vent their hositilies.

Penguinisto ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 5:31 PM

OT is where old threads go to die... couldn't those have gone to Team Contact (you know, where most complaints go?) Me, I was just trying to help with a color scheme that compliments the unchangeable colors. Now, if'n y'all don't mind, I gotta go borrow a welding hood from the automotive trades dep't... I'll be trudging upstairs to prep for night classes soon, and I don't wanna writhe on the floor grasping my eyes in pain before I even get logged in. /P

Hi Penguinisto I also posted a thread with ALL the Poser Links that were moved to the OT forum - so that they would be viewed from there as well :) Here is the link again - just in case it was missed above :) If you would like - I will be very happy to move your link to move your Thread over to the Team Contact Forum :) As I stated in the IM that I sent to you when I moved your thread - all you have to do is ask - and I will be very happy to move it from the OT to another forum - Just not the Poser Forum! Thanks for everyones understanding. ladynimue

Let me restate that - I posted All the links in a thread in the Forum News and Team Contact Forum [that were moved to the OT forum] Sorry for the confusion ladynimue

ladynimue ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 7:13 PM

To set the Record Straight - I WAS Asked to move the Poser Threads to The Forum News and Team Conact Forum - But while I was quickly putting on my Vicki Poser Armor and climbing upon my Daz Charger, I misread where I was asked to move the threads :)

So it was "MY Bad"

It was an "honest" misunderstanding on MY PART and as soon as I realized my error I moved the threads to the Forum News and Team Contact Forum - sorry for any inconveniences that any of the moves may have caused to any of the Members!

However - your input will be better seen in this Forum than in the Poser Forum!

Here are the Corrected Links to the threads that were moved from the Poser Forum to the Forum News and Team Contact Forum!

FYI Please post your comments about the Color Scheme to the Forum News and Team Contact Forum. 1. Your views either pro or con will be better seen there 2. If you have any suggestions as to what color schemes work best for you please post these there as well, to help out anyone who is having problems finding color-picks 3. Please Do Not post your concerns about the Color-Scheme in the Poser Forum - They will have better viewing in the Forum News and Team Contact Forum The above Link will take you to the Forum News and Team Contact Forum ladynimue

Good one pakled - however, as you can see all the thread have been moved to the "Forum News and Team Contact Forum" :) But it was still a great play on words - thanks for the morning chuckle! ladynimue

sabretalon ( ) posted Thu, 19 June 2003 at 7:53 AM

Ladynimue Does this topic need to be in the OT now? Seeing that it does not relate to poser! ;p

Philywebrider ( ) posted Thu, 19 June 2003 at 8:38 AM

This is an OT thread about OT threads. This OT thread in a poser forum, concerning the fact that OT threads should not be in the poser forum. This is a OT thread explaining in detail why it shouldn't be here (put here by the person responisable for moving it to another forum). Is this a job security issue Ladynimue? :OP

JohnRender ( ) posted Thu, 19 June 2003 at 8:41 AM

Not to go off topic, but why are only THESE messages being moved? Why do we continue to see off-topic posts in this forum? Why not move ALL messages that are not related to Poser, such as: Questions about HTML programming. Discussions about where to get the new version of Painter. Discussions about the newest sci-fi movie. Questions about how to make Flash or animated gifs (not using Poser). Questions about computers, RAM, and so on, which have nothing to do with Poser Questions about upgrading to Windows XP... yes, I know this is marginally related since people want to know how Poser runs under XP, but come on- it's been almost 2 years since XP came- read the past threads and decide for yourself. Questions about viruses and e-mail hoaxes. Or are the message posted here because this forum has the largest viewership? In that case, the forum should be renamed to "The Most Viewed Forum that is Supposed to be About Poser, but Go Ahead and Post Other Questions if You Really Want". Sure, that title may be too long for the drop-down box, but, hey, it describes the forum much better. Or are these messages posted here because the "OT Forum" has become the "Iraq War and Politics Forum" and people don't want their messages lost?

Philywebrider ( ) posted Thu, 19 June 2003 at 11:45 AM

"Or are the message posted here because this forum has the largest viewership?" Actually Poser has 1482 msgs Vue d'espirit has 5576 msgs Lightwave has 4711 msgs

mateo_sancarlos ( ) posted Thu, 19 June 2003 at 12:26 PM

I'm sure all the "high-maintenance" individuals in the OT Forum will be pleased that you moved the threads to the Admin Contact Forum. The last thing they would want is for site-related issues to drown out their tedious Bush-whacking and anti-American gibberish.

"Actually Poser has 1482 msgs
Vue d'espirit has 5576 msgs
Lightwave has 4711 msgs"

That depends on when you clicked the "Mark All Read" link. If you come in on a new account you'll see this:

Poser (52,425 new messages)

JohnRender ( ) posted Fri, 20 June 2003 at 9:01 AM

That still doesn't explain why the "site complaint" messages were moved, but there are still non-Poser-related messages still here. For example, a few threads above, there is a thread about how this site is sucking money from people. Is that Poser related? No. Then why is it still here? Ahh... I see... that message is positive towards the site. Unlike the complaint messages which are negative, and when left here, are read by everyone. So, instead, move all complaints in the little-known Forum News Forum. Good plan.

kbennett ( ) posted Fri, 20 June 2003 at 1:45 PM

John, although some few threads which are not directly Poser related don't get moved, they're usually left because they have some peripheral connection to the Poser community as a whole. e.g. We all know just how much cash this hobby can soak up and sometimes talk about it, new users of Poser who are thinking of upgrading their machines with the specific aim of running Poser optimally ask here rather than the general Tech forum because Poser folks know best what kind of spec is reasonable. That kind of thing. On the other hand, the site design issue is a sitewide thing and in order to keep all of the comments in one place, to better monitor the feedback and discussion, it was decided to put all of those threads in Forum News. It's got nothing to do with whether it's positive to the site or not. Kev.

Lyrra ( ) posted Fri, 20 June 2003 at 3:12 PM

If a thread is not moved that you think doesn't belong here, tell a moderator and we will look at it again. We do move a few threads every day .. you just don't see it happening Lyrra "the Borg Queen" Madril
