Well, I decided that I wanted to do the "Enya" pic because it was much more "Bryce"; only two imports, the wreck and the ruin. The "Stones" entry was all poser, just lit and framed in Bryce.

So, now that that is settled, this image still needs something; improved rain, no rain, dof, darker, lighter, what?

Nice entry. (grin) not defy, just a left at the fork on the way to the same place. (grin)

I found a nice little rain maker for PSP7...looks pretty real too........it's just a filter but you can set it up in all sorts of ways....That's if you wanna go down the postwork route........looks more realistic than what you have here.

I see you like to live dangerously Nukeboy but it is a Bryce contest and I'm sure your wifes broken heart will soon heal. (I just hope that your broken head heals as fast)She's not a violent woman is she? lol This is a really nice image and I agree with Bryster that the rain needs some work although not much. 8) Catlin

You don't want to use wip and wife in the same sentence...;] Maybe chairosuro lighting with the ship the hotspot? (ie, dark storm all around and sun breaking through to highlight the ship)and everything should be wet... just a thought Zhann

Great atmosphere, just like a "summer" day around the coast of the UK....possibly Wales.

Nukeboy, You will eventually do what she wants you to do - it is the nature of these things, but I'm glad you defied her in this case, at least for the moment, as the render turned out well!! ... but Ifin' I were you, I'd hurry up and make her what she wants and print it out for her, put it in a nice frame, go get yourself a single rose (I think 7-eleven sells 'em. I know circleK in Phoenix did.) A nice card, a good wine(or beer) and spend the evening sipping wine(or beer) and listening to Rod Stewart. - TJ

What's wrong with, for me is the lighting. The pic's either too light or the light is too monotonous. Zhann's suggestion looks good. See also whether Ripple Rain at http://www.kerlinsoftworks.com/software/ might help you with the water surface.

great image! want to see the finished porduct!

Slakker ( ) posted Fri, 20 June 2003 at 10:12 AM

Yea, the water surface needs the effects of the rain. I'd like to see the lighting a bit darker. Maybe even some DOF with the ship in focus...

Nukeboy ( ) posted Fri, 20 June 2003 at 1:14 PM

I agree with all above. I tried negative spots to give that broken lighting you get with storms, but I couldn't really get it to work. I agree, too, that the rain needs work. I added a second bump of dots to try to get an effect on the water. I'll try Erlik's link, too. Bryster; I couln't help to think of you and Wales as I was creating this. I live on California's central coast and our summers are extremely cold and foggy. Due to the valley being in the 100's, it sucks the heat away from the coast and creates a marine layer. Although it doesn't rain, the fog creates a constant "drizzle". Well, back to work. Thanks All!

this is one I just took the other day, see if you can use it to create the look you're going for, I've omly just started using light gels, so this might not work....or you could integrate it into the sky...just a thought

Awesome looking sky Zhann, is this one for download at your site? I could be doing with a sky like that for an image I'm working on. Catlin

catlin_mc ( ) posted Sat, 21 June 2003 at 12:46 PM

Nukeboy after looking at your image again I think it is because the sky and the water are exactly the same that the image doesn't look right. Both are pretty flat, you can't see any definition in the clouds and the water is too static for a stormy day. I think Zhanns sky would create a great look on your image, you could even change the hue on it to a sepia to fit in with the sea. Catlin
