Well, my first gallery image is up. I'd appreciate any feedback, comments, or (preferably constructive) criticism!

Building textures could vary a bit more.Could vary color or texture map while staying within the color palette. Maybe more air traffic. These are minor quibbles. Kudos on the building design.

Great looking scene but I do agree that you should vary the textures on the buildings. Bryce on...............8) Catlin

I agree with above But I gotta say - I really think the buildings themselves came out great, i love the designs...try experimenting with texturing them ( as SOE said above, staying within the same color Pal. roch222

Thanks for the comments. Texturing has always been one of my greatest challenges--I always seem to use the same textures again and again, without experimenting to see what else I could accomplish. And, I really do need to understand the materials lab better! Just as a point of clarification, while this is my first gallery image, it's not the first image I've done--I realized after posting that it might sound like this is my "first" Bryce image. Far from it! I'm sure my first image was some type of mirrored sphere over water.... Thanks again.

mirrored sphere? Ill have to try that...as soon as I stop lighting EVERYTHING on volumetric fire!!!! Funny thing is my nickname since high school has been scarecrow yet I have this horrible atraction to flames...kinda like a moth huh? Great Work on the image as soon as I figure out how I will be posting mine and preparing for the onslaught of you shoulda and you should nottas.

Maybe you could make it look like it's a kids toy. A city made out of cardboard. You already have the right color scheme for it and the models design will fit with it very nice too. If would make it just that tiny bit more different then your average cityscape.

I like it a lot. I agree with what the others said about bringing a little difference in the textures, but I disagree about the changing of color: for me, the uniform lightbrown hue of the whole city is fascinating, seem that it doesn't need any atmosphere to convey a vague sense of pollution and heaviness. So, these are only my 2c, of course, but I won't change the color at all and I'll stick with some minor tweaking of bump and frequency of the buildings' texs. S.

Kudos on the building designs. Have seen folks use textures to replace using real windows and it does not turn out too good. Textures are important, can also fake details with them too. Being able to use textures well is useful for Bryce or any 3d app.

hmm..I did a city pic (surprise, surprise..;) recently..the thing that got me was how the sky I picked would really affect the mats I used..I think with some judicious lighting, some variations could be done..you could experiment along those lines.. time, time, if I only had more TIME!
