Subject: Bump map problem...

I saw in an earlier post that someone was having a problem with textures not clearing. I have a similar problem with bump maps: When I make a bump map and poser turns it into a .bum file, how do I clear this out? The purpose is for changes. I mean poser does not actually look at the original seed image after it makes a .bum right? So how do I make it re-make a .bum file from the altered file? Thanks... Kyrin

Just a guess, but -- save your changes as a jpg?

I usually rename the altered jpg, then search for it in poser. Poser thinks its a new file and will create a new bum file. Does that help?

It won't help you on PC, but everyone on Mac with this problem can use my SpeedBump filter for GraphicConverter to solve it. Just open the (edited) template, apply the filter, and then save it to BUM format. As long as it gets the same name & location, Poser will use the new version.

if you load a jpg;bmp;tiff-file in poser on the bump-map directorie poser convert this file as a bump-map. you found it on the directory of your pic. you can only see waht the bump-map doing if you render your scene an give the bump-map a %-number more then 0. i work in first render with 100% and slow down the effect on my render, most near 50%-20%

ok heres what i do..seems strange probably but... when i load poser it opens on a blank screen (loads faster that way} then i open a figure and click edit / general preferences/save prefered state ... i know it takes a min longer , but it saves time in the long run ...then i start editing my figure when i make a change i dont like (that isnt un-doable} i just click file/new it reloads to the previous state if i like something i reset my prefered state (its kinda like having an indelable clipboard} ,when im satisfied i save the figure and clear poser and reset prefered state again...if im not finished yet i just close poser and the next time i open it i just pick up where i left off. i know im a wierdo ...but hey...it works for me ... lol JAFO

heya; jafo... you might be able to do the same thing if you use the edit: memorize/restore. you can memorize your figure, or particular elements, and then restore them to that state. but i have no idea if that will clear out the texture/bump maps. :/

yes the memorise/restore feature is excelent for posing and animating..but im refering to modeling and and bump-mapping... sometimes ill load the same morph target a dozen times checking the effect of changes(things dont always look the same in a modeling program or in an image editor as they do in poser) but your point is also valid thats the easiest most efficient way to undo or restore figures to the saved state but it doesnt clear the clutter of extra bump ,textures, morphs or props

if i modeling a new figur so i have my "model-doll" one for vicky more then five for p4 (headmorphs ar the most). I modeling, first face then breast then body, with out any textur. after finish i use morph-manger too combinat the morphs i use. after this i clear my new girl it mean i let her only the animat move morphs. on this way i go chance time by upload and rendering.
