THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Poser to Bryce the Phantast way.

Phantast ( ) posted Tue, 24 June 2003 at 5:13 AM ยท edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 8:14 AM

There are already a lot of tutorials available on moving Poser figures to Bryce - do we need another one? I think we do. I've working with Poser and Bryce together for over three years and many hundreds of pictures. In all that time I believe I've learnt the quickest, most efficient ways of working. However, when I read various tutorials on the subject, I find Im saying to myself, "That's wrong! That's a slower way to do things!" So now I've tried to put things straight and record for the benefit of everyone else what I have found to be the best procedures, by which I mean the ones that allow you to speed up the process the most and get the best-looking results. Especially the speeding up - for extensive work like illustrations and comics, the more time you can save the better. The tutorial runs across fourteen pages and covers not only the basic topics, but other tips and tricks you wont find elsewhere. Topics include how to export-import with the least fuss, how to get transmapped hair right, the various material zones of Victoria, how to streamline your work, how to prevent common import problems caused by Poser, why you never need another Poser MAT file, how to stop your textures looking dull and flat in Bryce, basic lighting schemes (and I mean basic; this is for novices) in Bryce, and how to recover when things screw up. The picture above is the image used as an example, starting with Poser and carrying through to the render in Bryce. The tutorial is available at my home page, which is at phantast.comicbabecentral.com. HOWEVER ... There has to be a catch, and here it comes. My home page is what is classified as an adult site, hosted by a server specializing in such sites. I know some people here are uneasy about that, so I will give you the requisite warnings first. Although the site is technically adult, in fact there's not much in the way of potentially offensive content in it. If you are easily offended, avoid the Games pages (yes, really!) and the Downloads pages. Elsewhere you are safe (even the Gallery). The site is supported by banner advertising, but all the banners come from the one company which is very well behaved. The banners are pretty mild and there are no pop-ups or spyware installers or other unpleasantnesses that so often are associated with adult sites. So I hope you wont have too much objection to visiting the site if you want to read the tutorial. If this turns out to be too much of a problem for many people, Ill look for a possible mirror site, but I dont really want to have to maintain two versions if I can avoid it. Another warning - if you are running a Mac, parts of the tutorial will not be useful to you, and may be distressing (when you see how much easier PC users have it).

Phantast, why not just put it up in Renderosity's tutorial section if your host deals in that kind of stuff and you are worried about people going there?

Posting links to such sites is technically against the Renderosity TOS. I'M not worried about people going to adult sites, I'm just being solicitous in case YOU are. I don't know anything about the Renderosity tutorial section, maybe I should check it out.
