Okay, just uploaded these to the PoserPros store, and I'm eager to find out what folks think of them. This is my first attempt at making a light set package, and my goal was to create the look of "Global Illumination" without having so many lights. There are 10 light presets in all, and none of them have more than 15 lights in the set... actually I think the highest count was 10.

So here's the deal... there are 10 light sets right? Well, the first 10 people to reply to this message will each get 1 preset, of my choice (though no two people will get the same one), then you have to use that light set to make an image, and post it this thread. I'll show the pictures to the 3 people that work for me (because they won't know who anyone is in Poser-land, so they can be impartial), and whichever one they like most will win the whole set.

Sound good? Maybe it's a little complicated, but I wanted to try to do something fun, that's more than just a guessing game like everything else I've done lately! ;)

Cin- ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 8:57 PM

There's one more left, whoever's next gets it! :) If you folks who have replied already (and whoever replies next too) could send me an IM with the email address you'd like to have the light sent to I'd appreciate it... Carcinogen, I got yours already, thanks! I was sick today, so I didn't go to work, and I'm taking Friday's off this month, so really the earliest I can get everyone to see the finished pictures, and give you guys a decent amount of time to do a nice image would be by Monday, so if the completed images could be posted by Sunday that would be great! I'll start sending the light sets as I get the PMs from you guys with the email addresses... Carcinogen, yours is on it's way!

Blush Sorry about that if we had an edit button I would have just edited my post to include my question. Did not mean to confuse you.

Cin- ( ) posted Tue, 24 June 2003 at 4:05 PM

Well the goods news is for those of you who didn't get a chance to grab one free one, when this set hits the market, it will be priced very low, so it won't break the bank to pick the set up.

Mehndi ( ) posted Sat, 28 June 2003 at 3:55 AM

I personally just love this light set. It is the fastest rendering and most versatile set of global lights I have ever tried. All of your renders are so lovely :)

cwshorty ( ) posted Sat, 28 June 2003 at 4:23 AM

file_64054.jpg

I do tend to shy away from global lights because of the rendering time, however this one set was pretty quick. Here is my submission using the Cool Blue set - the only postwork is on that pitiful water in the bird bath and I had to sharpen it a bit after I resized it. All the submissions look great and thanks Cin!

Cin- ( ) posted Sat, 28 June 2003 at 11:49 AM

These are all looking so nice... I can't wait to show them to the folks I work with on Monday so they can pick a winner!

pizazz ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2003 at 6:19 AM

Well, that's not very nice. No images from four people..

Firebirdz ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2003 at 6:45 AM

Hi Folks, I apologise for not posting anything (I IM'd Cin a few days ago). I got caught up with some rather urgent testing during the weekend so no chance to do something that would rival the wonderful images. Wanna say you all did a fantastic job with the lights and Cin did a fantastic job creating them! Firebirdz

Cin- ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2003 at 1:56 PM

Heya folks, I had someone out at work yesterday so I had to show these to everyone today! :) And the winner is (it was REALLY hard for everyone to decide too!) The Gathering - by pizazz But it was SUCH a toss up between that and cwshorty's entry that I felt bad only picking one winner... and then I thought well everyone did such a good job that I decided that EVERYONE that submitted an image will get a copy of the set from me! :) I've got your email addresses from sending the individual lights to you guys so I'll send the file (it's not very big) either tonight when I get home from work or tomorrow afternoon sometime. :) Thanks again everyone for your entries! This was a lot of fun to show the folks I work with.

pizazz ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2003 at 4:49 PM

This makes me feel real good - there are some nice images here. Thanks again Cin - I really look forward to using the rest of the lights.

cwshorty ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2003 at 5:02 PM

Wow Cin what a great compliment!! Thank you so much for the contest as well as your generosity, that was very gracious of you!!

Carcinogen ( ) posted Fri, 04 July 2003 at 9:39 AM

Cin- I love the entire light site. I snuck over to Poser Pros and purchased them right after I saw the first light you sent. Thanks for sponsoring this. It was fun and congrats to all for the great renders. Thanks Keith! Tim
