Subject: Coming Soon - DystopiaTM for Poser

Blocks 21 to 30 of Moebius87's wonderful DystopiaTM will soon be available for Poser. This is a Poser 4 render using a 4 by 4 switching geometry figure block array. That's right, what you see here is all one figure, set up as a 4 by 4 grid of city blocks. Each block can take on any one of the ten included block geometries. You just select the block and turn a dial to see all the different buildings you can put on it. What makes this really cool, is that you can save your city layouts as poses. No more tedious arranging props block by block. The set will come with a range of lights and some poses to set up your city grid. I've been using a random pose program to create grid poses and if I can figure out a good way to distribute that, I'll throw it into the bundle. It's currently in word macro format. Just in case you really want to work with props, a prop version is included for each city block. Switching geometry figures include a single block figure, a 2 by 2 array, a 4 by 4 array and a 6 by 6 array. Currently, I'm waiting on the final versions of the last two blocks. Once I have those, I'll slot them into the cr2s I already have waiting and ship the whole thing out to beta testers. Allowing two weeks for beta texting and one week for store processing, I expect these to be in the store by mid July. (original models and textures by Moebius87, obj format conversion and UV mapping by BillyHome, Poser set-up by Ajax)

For comparison, here's the same picture with the lights turned off. You can have the lights set at any level of brightness between this picture and the last, simply by adjusting the ambient colour or increasing the minimum transparency.

...and here are blocks 25 through 28. There are two more blocks in the set but I don't have final versions of them yet.

brilliant work on all fronts guys ......I glad I don't have to bankroll your aspirin prescriptions ;O)

Ajax ( ) posted Sun, 15 June 2003 at 4:49 AM

Yes, it's been....fiddly. Only another 92 blocks to go before we finish the whole ten packs though! One bonus of this project is that EasyPose Underground owners can look forward to an update with a switching geometry page some time soon - and you can bet it's going to be the smoothest, fastest and most complete switching geometry tool around.

BRAVO!!! Both you and billy-home have done an exceptional job here, I really have no clue how I would've managed with your help. What a lot of people won't ever realize is the tremendous amount of work you guys put into this product, practically rebuilding every single piece from the ground up. Well done, sir. Cheers! M

Not usually my cup of tea but this really looks incredible, I think the second image without the lights is what really got my attention along with the textures - I can't imagine the amount of work this took and it looks wonderful.

Thanks everybody. Of course, despite his modesty, Moe is THE creative genius behind this project. Billy and I are primarily involved so that people who don't have lightwave can still have the benefit of Moe's wonderful models in a form that's convenient for them. Billy-home's 3ds and obj versions should be in the store in a few days. I have the last of the models now and I've finalised the figures and props. I'll have the set out to beta testers shortly after I get home from work today.

I'll be waiting ptiently for the Poser version. I don't even do Sci-fi and I'm going to snag this one! Some models are such works of art they're worth owning just to look at them, I consider Dystopia to be one of those.

Yes, it really is increadible :-) I keep stopping while I'm working on it, to just zoom in and look at the details. I want to get in a car and drive along the streets, looking at all the little doorways and streetlights, or fly a helicopter in and out of the buildings, looking at the rooftop details. Block 29 has these cool landing pad things with doorways out onto them. I'll post a render later. Now I just want Moe to make a flying transport to park on the landing pads.
