The much anticipated first Dystopia pack for Poser is finally in the store. Dystopia City Blocks are the ultimate in large scale urban prop packs. Each kit contains ten unique 400 m x 400 m city blocks designed in a futuristic style, including all the necessary texture images to complete the look. This package contains city blocks 021 to 030. These models are intended to help fill the gaps in your science fiction universe, by providing you with a ready made city. No more time lost on creating all the other parts of your megalopolis, just concentrate on building your key structures and let Dystopia fill in the cityscape blanks for you. Whether you plan to populate it or destroy it, discover it or get lost in it, Dystopia is your essential urban environment. This Poser version features an inovative switching geometry grid figure approach which allows you to load your city as a single figure and then select which city block you wish to display on each grid location using a single dial in that grid location. Another advantage of this approach is that you can save your city layouts as poses and set texuring options for the whole city at once instead of setting them block by block. Some sample city layouts are provided. Prop versions of each block are also provided, just in case you prefer working with props. The props are easy to arrange since each one is exactly one Poser unit wide. Dystopia meshes and textures by Moebius87, converion to obj format by billy-home, Poser set-up by Ajax.

"Actual size" is shown on the left, compared to Vicki. On the right, you can see the result of using the provided scale poses to match your people to the city. The blocks aren't really intended to be used this way, but you can see they hold up quite well even at these absurdly close distances.

I got these yesterday, all I can say is that they are amazingv, the easy positioning of the blocks and easy altering of them makes working with them a joy. The designs are also incredible. If you do sci-fi work, this is indispensible. Good work Moe and Ajax on this. Best wishes Jody

Here's a five minute picture I did. There are only two of the ten blocks in this picture. Also, here's a link to the store page, which I somehow forgot before. Jody, Thanks! Glad you like the set :-)

BRAVO!!! You've done a terrific job of creating this package, Ajax. Not too many folks will recognize the awesome amount of work that both you and billy-home put into converting and enhancing these meshes for Poser. All those months of testing, converting, rebuilding, texturing and re-texturing have really paid of! Now, take a deep breath... we still have to repackage the first twenty freebie blocks (001-020) to be compatible with your amazing new system of working with Dystopia in Poser. And then there's blocks 031-040... and then 041-050... LOL! Poor fellow... only kidding, matey. You deserve several months vacation after all that hard work! Thank you!!! :o) M

Thanks Judith :-) Moe, I think this first set has taken us so long because we really had to get the process right on the first one before tackling the other sets. For me personally, I've done all of the hard work already and the remaining sets should be easy. I think billy-home gets the hard job. It should be a little easier for him now that we know exactly what has to be done during the format conversion, but he still has to go through all of the hard work for every block he converts - replacing two vertex polygons with cylinders, making extra planes for the window lights, UV mapping every surface etc. The little package of applets I built to do this project is all finished and ready for me to use on the remaining sets, but billy-home basically has to start from scratch on every block. That's slow work. It could take us a while to finish all of the sets, but I'm very much looking forward to getting my hands on more of the meshes - especially the upcoming bonus meshes like the starport and power generator. Those look like fun :-)
