Subject: Goodbye friends, at least for a little while...

MaterialForge ( ) posted Sun, 29 June 2003 at 6:45 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 4:28 AM

Hi everyone, I wanted to drop a note to let you know that Posertrax is no more, and that I will probably not be around here very much for quite some time. I've decided to close the site for personal reasons, most notably my health. No, I'm not terminal nor have I contracted some strange illness (well, sanity maybe) :). But folks, don't neglect yourselves. 20 hours a day sitting at a computer or in a studio chair is no way to live and is not good for your heart - both in the physical and the emotional/psychological sense - I learned a hard lesson in the physical sense, which in turn switched on "logic mode" of the other. I thank you all SO much for your support, kind words, and cool projects you've included my music in. It means a lot to me and always will. I wish you the best of luck in your art, movies, games, and whatever other wonderful projects you create! Keep the muse alive and kicking, screaming, and laughing. As for me, I'm unplugging for a while. How long? Hard to say. There are places to go, people to see, and things to do. Staring your own mortality squarely in the face kinda puts things in perspective. There are many things I've left undone, and I'm not ready to check out yet. So, I'm off to do those things now. To quote Bilbo: "I bid you all a very fond farewell" Keep Rockin'! --Donnie

Yup, your health is paramount. Take care and do what you have to do. The very best to you.

Sorry to hear about your health. You're right, it doesn't do us much good to sit by the computer for so many hours every day. It's very good that you're making this change. Good luck and get well!

Best wishes. Takes a lot of guts to rip yourself away from something you love -- even if it was a glimpse at ol' death that gave you a push. I commend you for taking such decisive action. Hope to "see" you again though. Tim

Best wishes Donnie. The number 1 priority is YOU. Take care of yourself and hope to see you back soon!

Keep in touch, Donnie. I don't talk much to too many folks online and I'll miss our little conversations, even if they are kinda weird sometimes. :) Take care of yourself, Kate

Sad to see you close it, but on the other hand, I fully understand what you are saying. I'm in a chair all day and when I get home, yup, its in a chair behind a screen again. It really is important to get out and away from the 'puter.

all the best on enjoying your life

Take care of yourself! You'll be missed! I do understand though. Even though I am hardcore nerd, I try to do strength training twice a week and get cardio in 2-3 times a week while still watching my diet. I do this mostly because I am borderline diabetic and I don't feel like it becoming full blown diabetic but I also feel good and good about myself when I exercise. I'm sure I could take a lesson about the "heart" problem... but there's a shortage of good women in my area but I do enjoy spending time with my family - especially my nieces and nephews, who are wonderful and help keep me young.

Do what you need to Donnie, we'll keep the homefires burning... and mp3's playing.

Man, what a shocker. I'm gonna miss ya' man.

HI Donnie - Man, I Truly understand where you are coming from! Get outside and smell the roses, breathe some fresh air, walk a dog, and doing a lot of hugging of non-virtual friends. Sometimes a time-out is the best thing to get a fresh viewpoint on what you are doing and to also get your creative juices going again! PLease know you will be missed greatly - I know that you can't stay away for Too Long - your inner-artist just won't let you :) Enjoy your summer and we shall see you "refreshed" in the fall! Hugs ladynimue

Take care of your health. Enjoy living and breathing and even feeling the pulse in your veins. Sit on an ancient weathered rock and gain some perspective. Spend a bit of time doing what you want to do, and don't feel guilty about it. If you've been given a warning sign, treat it like a blessing, because you have a chance to take care of things which really matter. Best wishes, Carolly
