Subject: Vicki, Stephanie, and all them girls

Grammaton ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2003 at 11:07 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 2:27 AM

I've been working with Poser5 for a little over a week now and am getting seriously confused by all this mention of different girls in poser. How do I know who I am working with? All I can find is Judy, yet I see nothing anywhere on this site about Judy. Additionally, I'm having a hell of a time getting dynamic clothing onto my characters. Can someone please post a link to a plain english page on how to attack "dynamic" clothing onto a model? I notice that "comform to" does not work with dynamic clothing, and yet I thought dynamic clothing was supposed to be better. Alright, I'll stop my whining now. Thanks for any help. =) And please don't tell me to look in the manual, I got the NFS (aka OEM) copy from a Corel rep where I work, so it was only like the cd's and whatever pdf's might have come on the cds.

Attached Link: Poser FAQ There's a ton of information that will help you in the Poser Backroom FAQ (link attached). Judy and Don are Poser 5 figures, that come in Poser 5. Victoria, Michael and Stephanie are Daz characters, and you have to go to Daz to find them. There is much on dynmaic clothing on the Curious Labs website in their Tutorials and you will find much that is useful there, as well as on other websites. Search on the Poser forum. You will find many answers tucked in threads.

Well, I posted the link the first time but lost it when I tried to edit the message. Sigh. Trying again.

Maybe one of you can answer this question...When you see the categories in the freestuff section you see the following "Millie/Vicky". Who is Millie?

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

In order... dacort is the name of a modeller; specifically, the one who created Natalia. Natalia also has the capability to become a Fantasy figure known as Natrixa. Millie was the original name for Victoria, mainly because it's also known as the "Milliennium Woman". There are a few other figures out there, too: Cindy by 3dmpr/Arduino Nadya by Aleknest There may be others I'm not aware of. In addition, there are hundreds of character packs for the most popular models (Victoria, Stephanie and Michael), which usually consist of textures and morphs. Each one of these requires the base model in order to be used.

Dacort has put out a huge line of unique figures mostly all based around his unique Natalia mesh, also has coforming mermaid and snake tails for Victoria, Michael and Stephanie. In freestuff you'll find a p4 female based mermaid and seanymph, a'lite' version of Undine which is a Natalia-based stand alone figure...some clothing for her as well.

The free Maya Doll is available at Studio Maya's Maya Doll downloads page, scroll down to find latest mesh updates, hair and clothing.

Vina/Dina was made by Dacort/DSI...she's available at Renderotica(be warned, adult site)and I believe Animotions, a more comic book oriented poser site...no where near as many freebies out for her as Victoria, but she's another unique mesh you might consider looking into.

P5 Male = Don P5 Female = Judy P5 Girl = Penny P5 Boy = Will Dale LaRoy Splitstone When can we expect Dr. Smith?

dialyn ( ) posted Wed, 02 July 2003 at 5:11 PM

I would love a Dr. Smith...he was by the far my favorite. :) (The original...not the newer version.)

"I didn't know that Poser 5 was bundled with anything."~Carolly I hadn't heard about it either which makes it still unproven in my book. Emily

They're called NFR (not for resale) versions. That's how I've gotten most of my software. Painter, KPT, Knockout. If only the Adobe rep could be so nice.

If you are a subscriber to the Renderosity Newsletter, hmann has one of his tutorials for the cloth room included as the freebie this week. Might help you with the dynamic clothing question.

Ah, Not for resale-- nice place to work. Well, you should have plenty of free cash for Vickie3 at Daz-- if you do get her, be sure to get the Platinum Club as well, cause that's where most of her clothes are. Emily
