Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 18 2:22 am)
I don't know about the Bryce part of your question since I haven't tried that myself. The 'point at' problem is truly annoying since it is one of my favorite Poser4 features. I've tinkered with this a number of times but haven't arrived at a resolution. I can tell you that I found a similair problem as a beta tester for Poser4. At that point, if you changed the default focal length of the selected camera, the standard Poser4 eyes would skew in a similiar manner. To correct that problem you had to scale the camera back to 100% and the eyes would return to the intended point. I don't think this is the same though. My guess is since the RealEyes embed a seperate prop into the Poser4 eyes, Poser can't figure out how to rotate the combine eyes/prop configuration. Not much help I know. Hopefully someone has pushed this further than I have.
Well, I know there's a RESite object in the set, but I can never seem to get to it...so, what I do is use Point At function for each Eye, then parent each RealEye to its respective Eye on the figure. For the Point At object, I use a small ball, placed far forward, out of camera range and then move it to create conjugate gaze motions. Seems to work fine so long as I don't forget to parent the RealEyes AFTER I aim the Eyes. Hope this makes sense and is some help.
The trick with bushi's RealEyes in Bryce is to make sure you select and colour the right parts correctly. There is a part inside the eye which is actually part of the figure (as opposed to RERight or RELeft). This is usually coloured black. Change this to transparent. There is also a layer over the pupil and iris, this needs to be almost totally transparent (about 99%) with a low diffuse setting and pure white, with a touch of reflection (about 5 or 7) and lots of pure white specularity. (This usually shows up as RELeft1_2). If you like, I can send you Bryce materials I have created for the RealEyes. Paul

I just tried using these on a couple of people and like the look a lot. But I found that I could not use the point at setting to point the eyes at anything reliably. It looks like the side of the eye point at the camera instead of the iris etc. Is there a fix that I haven't yet seen or any thing i can do to fix this? Also I tried exporting a character with them over to Bryce 3 and could not pick the right parts of the eyes for texturing. Any hints there? TIA
