THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Need gallery upload help please!

Every time I try to upload an image with a thumbnail, a link to the image is created in the thumbnail section but no picture appears and the main image is highly pixelated. If I just upload the image it works OK. The latest image I had trouble with is "Bungle In The Jungle". I use photoshop but not the 'automate gallery' command to create the jpg's and I watch the file size to adhere to the renderosity guidelines. Two queries to admin about this have gone un-answered. My isp is aol. Thanks in advance for your help. Mivan

Sounds like the script got its counter off and it's using the display dimensions for your big image on your thumbnail. Slightly off topic but the last time I uploaded the thing really bitched about my thumbnail being over 15K. I clipped and cropped and finally wound up with a 50x75 pixel preview it would accept. If it's a question of server space I'd be happier to have a fixed number of pages and decent sized thumbs.

Sorry, Need to drink more coffee before I reply. What I didn't make clear is the problem is on Renderosity's end. It has nothing to do with your AOL connection. I downloaded your image "Bungle in the Jungle" Nice Parrot:) It's 640x480 and very clear from my end. You don't have a thumbnail that I can see. Since other images on the page do have thumbnails I don't think it's my browser. I'm using Netscape 4.7 on a Windows ME system. I can try it with IE 6.1 on a Windows XP system tomorrow and see if the display is different.

I think its either Netscape that's the prob or Photoshop. Try making a completely seperate thumbnail by resizing your pic or part of your pic.

Let me qualify this comment by saying I have no clue about Photoshop, but I do remember that there is an remark on the upload page about a problem with photoshop. In one of its modes, it makes an automatic thumbnail. R'osity apparently cannot cope with that, and the warning states that it must be disabled. If that is the problem, simply take your image to Photoshop and resize it to 200 x 200 or smaller and export it as a jpg with the quality necessary to make it under 15k, save it with an name. I usually save my large image with a name (image.jpg) and my thumb with a similar one (imageth.jpg) so that they will be next to each other on my R'osity upload list. Hope that helps. Tres
