Here's the trick... make a new folder anywhere on your machine called 'runtime'. In that folder, make a folder called 'libraries', one called 'geometries', one called 'textures'... depending upon what your package needs. now add the relevant folders to contain your parts, as they appear in the Poser folder structure, and put copies of the relevant files in the relevant places. Then Zip up the runtime folder with 'save full path info' checked. This will make the zip just right! H:)

I don't know of a utility that facilitates this, but I highly recommend PowerDesk, a file manager like Windows Explorer from V-Com. It's free, it includes Zip file management, and it has a couple great features that allow you to recreate a path. All you have to do with your free models is locate the files, select one, then go to "Edit" and choose "Copy path as text." Then you go to your desktop, create a new folder, and paste the path in as the folder name (it's best to delete everything before "Runtime" before hitting Enter); PD creates the entire directory structure of the path. Then you can copy your files into the appropriate folders, and select the "Runtime" folder and zip it all up, maintaining the path information. It's really much easier than it sounds :).

There was a utility called PInstall perhaps?? Try doing a search in freestuff for install. I don't know how well it worked. If the items were zipped with correct paths included, which many are, I just tell my zip app to unzip using paths and set to start from the Poser directory - which is my default unzip directory. That's the fastest. If the paths aren't there of course, that won't work. Sometimes, I may want to put one or two of the files in a different location, rather than say creating yet another character or pose folder. I hilight and unzip with paths for the ones I agree with and just drag and drop the others where I want them. I use the free ZipGenius program but I'm sure most others will let you do it that way.

Actually, Hogwarde, if you check the "full path" in WinZip you will have to place your Runtime folder at the root, or it will indeed make it a full path - like C:windowsdocumentd and settingsusersomething moredesktopruntime...and so on. If on the other hand you have your "packing runtime" on your desktop, as I do, you should just zip the runtime and the path inside the zip will be correct. The easiest way is (I think) to simply rightclick on the Runtime folder and choose "add to Runtime.zip" Then rename the zip afterwards to something like myniftything.zip ;o) And if the folders are present in the "dummy runtime" then the path inside the zip will be right. Oh and seeklight, PLEASE note the upper/lower case of the folders. And remember that Props is the only "plural" folder. Easy mistake to make :o) But I am so happy that you even THINK about path'ing the zips. I must admit that anything I download WITHOUT proper paths gets dumped. Unless of course it is something unique that I really really REALLY need :o) Life is too short to find the expected geometries ect. folders by hand :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
