Subject: Victor/Millennium Man (what should his name be?)

eallen ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 1:33 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 9:33 PM

Hello Everyone, Just an unofficial pole here: what would you all like Zygote's new model, the male counterpart to Victoria, to be named? In order not to confuse everyone we'd like to have one name that everyone can use, rather than something like "the Victor/Vic/Millennium Man/Milton/Manny/Chad figure." We figure that we'd better do this quickly, or "Victor" will permanently stick. (Not that this is bad, if it's what you want.) Right now, Zygote's open to just about any name. Once we've gotten some good suggestions we will narrow them down and will let you vote on your favorite name. We can only pick one name, so if a name that you like that has been submited already, put in your vote for it, too! We appreciate your help in this decision. Thanks. Eric Allen Zygote Media Group

How about Eric:)

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 2:15 PM

I'd suggest "Manny" (Millennium MAN, after all), but that would only really work if Millie had been the Millennium Woman's "real" name... I kind of like Victor - brings to mind images of Frankenstein... :-)

arcady ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 3:16 PM

Oh gods not Manny... If that was used I wouldn't b able to get past all the David Letterman "Manny the Hippie" references. And for crying out loud NOT SETH! I'd go with Victor since it'd be consistant. Though if it was me making the call it would be "Millennium Man". I think it's silly to name a 'base model'

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

I am partial to the name Alex :)

How 'bout "John Poe" (for Poser)

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

buck ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 4:11 PM

I vote for Victor... nice bookend for Victoria, and Vic is an easy to use nick. Buck

rtamesis ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 4:45 PM

Victor and Victoria. has a nice ring to it. :-)

Byte Me Ok ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 5:51 PM

I always liked Alex myself and almost named my son that until my husband pulled a fit.... Victor and Victoria have a nice ring but kinda makes them sound like infertile twins.. hehe.. Still I could handle Victor... I've always like Bryce for a guy's name but that would be confusing for some since we have a program named Bryce.. hmmmmm My other two favorite guy's name are Clayton and Walker but I guess those wouldn't do either... I'll have to vote for Victor or Alex unless someone can think of a better one.. I find the meaning of names and how they affect our personality interesting and there is an online engine to find this out at What's in YOUR Name? - demonstration analysis http://www.kabalarians.com/gkh/your.htm If you look up Victoria you might find out why she has suffered so much... However Victor fairs much better.. =)

PJF ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 7:16 PM

I thought making the Millennium woman a specific character instead of an alternative 'generic' figure was a mistake of major proportions. As such I always prefered the unofficial 'Millie' to 'Victoria'. It was the populist choice for what should have become a new default figure for the new 'age', in the same way that 'Posette' was adopted for the established Poser female. Victor will probably be it for the new guy, but I thought maybe Manson could be fun.

melanie ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 8:15 PM

That would bring to mind Charles Manson, so I don't think so. Probably something simple, one syllable maybe. Max might work. Vick sounds good. Something interesting like Sebastian, but that's too long. Maybe I'll go with Vick or Victor. Melanie

Not "Max!" "Lightwave" or "Truespace" maybe? :-)

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

Albert would be historical!

troy_johnson ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2000 at 10:42 PM

What about Albert? After all, they are the royalty of the Zygote product line. My other line of thought though goes with the people who feel that the millennium woman should have been left unknamed so I would be fine if he did not get a name at all. (And lets face it, whatever he is named will be reduced to the shortest possible monosyllable grunt right away anyway so there is no point in agonizing over the choice.)

Alfred, as in Alfred E. New-Man Scarab <-what? me worry?

Here are some suggestions: Make him a little more rugged and name him Dirk. Or Make him pumped up and name him Arnold. Or Make him look like the president and name him Hillary.

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Tue, 27 June 2000 at 10:14 AM

Hmm. Why not go REALLY "historical" - and go with "Adam"?

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Tue, 27 June 2000 at 10:17 AM

{Make him look like the president and name him Hillary.} Cute. Especially since, if you drop an "L" ("Get the L out!"), you have a man's name - I've met one, Hilary Barta, a guy who does REALLY bizarre, mostly adult, usually very funny, comic books, IIRC.

jschoen ( ) posted Tue, 27 June 2000 at 12:02 PM

Please let us stear away from Victor. He looks nothing like Julie Andrews. (explination: The movie Victor Victoria -- A Woman playing a man, playing a woman... It was a delightful movie) I just keep thinking of it everytime. How about something short? That way it can't be turned into a nickname. Thus being less confusing than Victoria/Vicky/Vickie/Millie So how about Nick? ;-) James

Merlin ( ) posted Tue, 27 June 2000 at 12:31 PM

If the "millenium man" looks like a man like "victoria" was looking like a woman, then "Victor" would certainly be accurate, according to the movie you just quoted ;)

Jim Burton ( ) posted Tue, 27 June 2000 at 4:28 PM

I sort of like "Phread", but no one else will, Victor is fine as a second choice.

Jack D. Kammerer ( ) posted Tue, 27 June 2000 at 5:06 PM

What about Nate or Nathan, it is a solid mannly name and has good roots to it. Now we will have TWO to choose from, the Poser Dork and the Poser Chap... :o) I sort of like that! But I would say Nate, Nathan or Victor... Jack -who will likely use the new male than he does Vickie, still can't get past that face of hers...
