THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: *Official WIP Mats stick your images here ...

I noticed that some people where displaying the fruits of their labors in the DTE, so why not stick the images all in one place so we can see your stuff! The cylinder has one of my textures with two additional channels, right one is a procedural rusty thingy, and the left is a see-through mesh procedural, so don't feel limited to solid mats...:)

Those are beautiful textures, Zhann. I've been working on some of my own. I'm still working on them, so C&C greatly appreciated. I'm also going to make a few more, so far i've got 6. (The water, which i think i'm gonna make darker and less reflective)

That far left one is perfect for a lava lamp!!! I always wanted one as a kid but never had enough money, lol. Now that they are popular again, I have no desire for a real one. The other mats are looking good too. Ang

I love the 4th one from the left(the fire) kind of rocket or jet blast/flame thrower......

hmm..I've got too many mats (no I don't..uh, maybe that's driving me crazy..;). They all look good. If only there was a utility that would let you browse through loaded or unloaded mats and see what they look like..;)

Has anyone tried hitting the Random button in the DTE until you get a texture that catches your eye and then tweaking it until you get just what you want? I've gotten some interesting textures that way, could be a way for the less experienced to make their own textures for the Challenge.

Six versions of a single tex with small changes done in the editor. I make the distinction because the texture has only one component. There are rich seams to be mined in the DTE before one has to start loading layers of channels on an object, slowing down render times. Actually!, it's all an excuse for me spending so much time playing in the DTE instead producing some images. Looking forward to having a go at this challenge. Have fun!

Just a few older solid mats, methinks I'll make some "brand-new" ones for this contest, though. Aye, Wildman, is that bottom cube volumetric or WHAT! It's very cool, the other ones are cool also, but that one stands out a bit from the rest...

Zhann ( ) posted Wed, 09 July 2003 at 10:52 PM

Eyecon, I'm not sure what you mean, either DTE or the images I supplied, however in the DTE you can add bump to any of the materials you make, or covert one of my images to a bump......... Shadowdragonlord, I like the crackle one lower left, seems you got it goin' on!

shadowdragonlord- I really like those textures. the second one from the left would make a nice mossy rock texture!

Agent these are primo textures especially (is that a word) the one on top left. Did I read correctly somewhere that all these mats people are creating will available for download somewhere once the contest is over. If so cant wait to get my hands on these and the ones shadowdragonlord has up there.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 10 July 2003 at 2:41 PM

Yeah, all the DTE's should be available for free download. (as long as everyone agrees to part with their hard work!) AS

Aye, methinks that many artists here, or at least myself (if one were to actually name me so!) would gladly part with their experiments. I don't post my commercial art here, commercial art sucks anyways. So if anyone sees a mat they like, just ask, email rules these days! AgentSmith, I like the coppery corroded texture on the bottom left, that totally rules!
