I recently posted to the complaint and debate forum, some ideas about putting together a compilation of the best of Renderosity artists, to support us, and perhaps find us all some work (those of course, that want to). It was based on a complaint that Colm and I had been to a bookstore, and were checking out fantasy book covers, and took a look at the Spectrum series of books, Spectrum publishes a book, it looks like, once a year, with the best of the best in fantasy, and other categories such as book covers, and even includes unpublished work that is very very good. They also sponsor a poster contest. We were concerned because the authors of the book, although supporting digital art, felt it in no way, could ever come close to the human bond between an artist and client, when the natural medium is used. We got to thinking about our work, which we have just started pushing, and the work of the very fine artists who find themselves here on Renderosity. We suggested this compilation in book form, and congratulated Dillinger for his screensaver. Other ideas, like a CD, and a calendar, both great ideas, were also mentioned. We also suggested starting a forum here on Renderosity that would involve those who wish to do this sort of thing, and finding places accepting work, finding juried competitions/exhibitions of digital work, as well as inviting book publishers, and other successful artist, to come here for a public chat. If anyone is for this idea, please let us know. Syyd and Colm Jackson

I remember the Mind's Eye videos - compilations of short clips of people's animations. Something like this perhaps?

I say we make a print book... something real dIY but good, Ive done it before with my art and sold it off the street... it would require new images from every submitter and they would have to be up to print quality specifications. But an imense amount of leg work has to be done, first of all the book has to be designed.. size specs and such print proccess has to be decided on... for at least the first print.. Wich I'm guessing will have to be vanity, before a publisher will ever pick up... also I think that a commity should be appointed. And that committe would decide on each individual submited image what place and size in the book it will get. Also I think that the standards should be quite high and only the best images get in the book, otherwise no one will by it.

I'm willing to lend my limited experience anytime its needed..

Now this is something thats worth donating to! love, Jon Stamos

I have another Idea to add to the list. I have displayed art in local art cooperatives and galleries here in the mid-west. People had no idea that work of such quality, color and creativity could be done on a computer. When they hear "computer" they think pac-man and pong graphics. My idea would be to get a fairly large group of works by various renderosity artist. Print signed, numbered and framed limited editions at a respectable size, like 11 x 17, 17x 22 etc. at 150 dpi or more. Then have the commity try to get the set of works toured at art muesems around the country.. Whatever artist is closet to the muesem the show is at can go to the opening and answer questions etc.... all the artist featured would have to chip in to pay for the show to be shipped and the commity can talk to the muesem about when the show is run, placement in the muesem etc.... not for sale mind you... just for show.. that would drive up awarness of the art in the community and generate sales second hand. Call the show: "Renderosity" "The Digital art Experience"

that sounds like a good Idea.. I'm actually working on doing a show right now... I hope to include a large portion of my digital work.... but 150 dpi isn't enough 600 at least or more. Could work out quite well with the book a tour of the work and selling of the book... but who has the time for such a thing =P

I'd be happy to help out.. With calendars, cd's and the like. And contribute my knowledge in whatever areas needed. Storm
