Ok :) Took the advice I got and changed a few things around. Then my son got on the computer while I was at work and locked it up, not realizing all he had to do was hit Ctrl, alt, del to get IE to quit so I lost the previous one I had done. Anyway, I had saved it after some of the changes and this is what I've come up with now :) Again, comments and criticsms welcomed and I'm going to do the fog in postwork I think, antevark. Also I think I'll have to touch up the water a bit, the terrains I used to create it still need some help. I still have problems getting the volumetric fog to work in my images for some reason :(

You've probably already stated, but is that ship a creation of your own or is it something you downloaded? I think the water needs to be smoothed more, maybe. Maybe that's just the bump height on your texture...it's a little bit too choppy, i think. Unless that's what you're going for..i don't know what you're trying to achieve so i can only say what i'd be doing if it were my image. Good work, look forward to seeing the finished version!

Looks good. Be sure to paint the planks on the ship in postwork, I don't know how many large ships are made out of one block of wood 8^). Now what's that on the rock wall in the top-right?

awesome---love the POV, it placed to where it feels like your on the pirate ship and swaying w/ the waves. no crits here, except maybe just a little bit more light around the ship, but thats just my opinion. cant wait to see the final image!

I think your water is fine.... I'm happy to see someone who doesn't just throw a flat, boring, non three-dementional plane down for their water!!!! Agree with antevark on the wood. I like the cliff texture. where's the ship sailing to??? I also wish there was a little bit more light to see your ship with,,,,,but then again, I have no idea what that light would come from.... anyway.. excellent image.

The ship is a freebie off the net, Slakker. I've seen in in the 3D Commune and a few other places. The waters supposed to be choppy as there's rather large rocks beneath it. The ship is being lured into the coast by the smugglers and their bonfires and beacon towers(thingie in the top right). As for the light, there is a lantern at the aft of the ship, maybe I'll play a little with a radial light and see if I can't get the ship illuminated a bit. It's one of the things i definitely don't like about the image(the darkness around the ship) but I've yet to figure a way to get it so it looks somewhat natural and lighted. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions and barring no more computer crashes, hopefully I'll have it done sometime tomorrow night :) squeeka :)

Nice job Squeeka. I think the modeling is fine, you water is looking good too, although smoothing out a tad MAY help, but if you can't, I wouldn't let it completely bug you. It's still pretty nice. Water is such a hard thing to get right in Bryce sometimes...well, realistic water that is. The best I'VE ever seen (I emphasize that because I know others have other faves) is Clay with water. His water in the images in Real World Bryce 4 is astonishing. But until we're in ClayLand on that stuff, your water is a close second! ;) MD

Thank MD :) You're right water is hard and I usually work on it more in postwork to get it right. Bryster, I rendered at 800 x 600 for now using normal AA. I'm trying to get the composition and POV worked out at the moment. I didn't have time to do anything else last night. I'm afraid, when I do the final render, it'll take much longer than the hour or so it took last night and I didn't want to wait that long :-)

I specially dig the yellowish lights on the coast. I also note that you improved the look of the sails. Cool image.

I'm one of those who really doesn't like dark images but in this case to give more light would remove some of the mystery and realism for me. Would it work to lighten the sky just a tad so it's earlier evening or later morning (whichever the time is)? Whatever you do with this, it's great as it is I think. I really like this picture! :o)

I would think the cabin on the ship might have a light on (if there is a cabin). Can you put a flag on the ships mast? I think that would look good. Lin
