I decided it was easier to make up the DTE materials first then decide how they would look best. So I've done a completely different scene. The table is pathetic and I will be modeling another one in Wings (hopefully before the deadline). Other than that I'm kinda happy. Still trying to figure out if I can fit anything else into the scene. Oh yeah the DTE materials are on the frames, the carpet and I used two on the table top, to bring out the design. Its leaning against the wall instead of sitting on top of the table so the design can be seen, lol. C&C welcome (except for the pathetic table that yes I am ashamed to admit I made it-unlike Ornlu its not my 1st or 2nd model either, hehe)

I like them. They seem... gosh, I have the word in Italian but not in English. The kind of wood used for interiors, like i.e. the interiors of cars. In Italian is "radica"... ok, enough rant. They're good, specially the leftmost one. I like also the black/white variation on the right frame. IMO, you should try to increase the bump on the carpet, maybe also the frequency.

Looks like a good scene in progree Ang! I think the carpet is pretty convincing and the other mats look intriguing as well. I'm looking forward to a larger render so I can appreciate them better.

Thanks Stefano, Heres a screenshot, the carpet's already got a high bump. Maybe I should try to render it without AA?

Maybe you already know it, but bump can go over 100, up til 999. Just type the numbers manually instead of using the slider. S.

here's a plop render of the carpet with the bump upped and the frequency cranked up. I don't know if there's a big difference (yes, I need glasses, lol) Let me know if it helped enough or if I should try rendering with the carpet turned off for antialising. thanks

I wouldn't aa the carpet. If you are relying on bump aaing will sort of degrade the results. Is that, table top in the corner supposed to be semi transparent. If so, try putting a bluish white omni right behind the center of it. squared falloff and not very bright (depending on the size of your scene.) Then apply a rippley gel map to it. You will get a nice sense of caustics.

Hi Ornlu, No its not supposed to be, It has a design on it, don't know if its showing up or not, my monitor is so bad that I can't see it and the carpet is a blur so I can't tell what it really looks like either :( Maybe I can go back into wings and bring out the design more. Well the material might be semi transparent, not really sure. I tried lowering the ambience but I didn't like how it looked darker. I really want the design to show, I think I'll have to do more work on that. Thanks

I'd reduce the scale of the .mat on the table but the rest is great....love the carpet......can I have it?

Nice work on the textures. I like your carpet... The frames on the right and left I really like too. It is coming along nicely. Keep on forging ahead Ang. You'll make the deadline. 8) ~ Swade ~
